The better of ABC News podcasts
Good effort at true crime reporting. It's about what you'd expect from 20/20. Even if you've listened to Murder on Orchard St and hated it, I'd suggest that you still give this one chance. It's more thorough and less annoying. Note that there is some extremely troubling content about the victim's little girl who was found at the site of the crime. In my opinion, some of this should've been omitted bc it was borderline exploitative and a witness account of finding the child which provides imagery that you don't want in your head. Even worse, it seems to be repeated, just in case you weren't sufficiently disturbed and disgusted the first time. I almost stopped listening. Ultimately I'm glad I didn't. Nevertheless, I'd hope we'd get more sensitivity from an organization like ABC News. I cannot imagine the victim's family knowing that content has been widely shared. It's unethical, particularly when coupled with the way they presented the victim's personal life. I expect they'll go back and edit some of this when they get feedback. In summary, there's real potential here if you can stomach the exploitative nature of some of the details. I'd say it's less riveting than the 48 Hours podcasts, as they have more experience at podcasting and they've worked out the kinks. But eventually I expect 20/20 podcasts to catch up to the quality of 48 Hours podcasts, and I think we'll have a good variety of true crime/ legal content available. I know some people don't like these corporations joining the podcast library, but remember: a rising tide lifts all boats. This is new media, and eventually even the dinosaurs will evolve. I think that more competition will lead to better quality and content, so I welcome these corporate podcasts.Read full review »

Blatantly irresponsible ‘reporting’ in which they continue to return to false ‘authorities’ and ‘experts’ who peddle gross misinformation about domestic violence, the legitimacy of restraining orders and somehow manage to blame the murder victim. Nasty anti-women tabloid stuff, DON’T BOTHER

The crime itself is compelling. The writing is god awful. It’s the prose of a four-year-old. The narration range of an automaton. In the hands of more skilled storytellers, this could have been great.
