It’s hard to understate how much Dan Ilic puts into A Rational Fear — you can hear the sweat through the headphones. He’s such a legend, and often writes in 3rd person.

Still the best show for keeping up with climate action without falling into a pit of despair Xox

Great content, funny side of the most depressing subjects. Quite repeatitive format at times becomes bit boring.

Do yourself and the planet a favour and tune in to have your mind blown, your laughing gas expelled and your blood boiled. Loved the most recent episode on Australia’s ‘world class’ secrecy laws. Dan Ilic’s self-deprecating and infectiously hilarious take on even the most profoundly depressing...Read full review »

The news and politics stress me. So it’s nice to have intelligent people pull it apart for me and deliver it with laughs. PS I won’t say Dan Ilic’s head looks like an iconic egg. Oops did I say that aloud? (S’ok. I don’t need the stickers).

Born from an iconic egg on a mountain top, Former mystic shaman Dan Ilic accompanies affable horse-mounted radio-monk Lewis Hobba on a pilgrimage to deliver sacred satirical billboards to a dystopian gas-led future - alongside a cast of special guests!

Love this podcast. Considering ditching one of my streaming platforms so I can subscribe as I’m missing the extra content (bye bye Amazon Prime). Special thanks for giving Julia Zemiro a platform every month. Loved the pub choir episode and I’d sign up for her drama school for the unambitious and...Read full review »

this podcast is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. but what *is* certain, is that you’ll laugh until you’ve got tears streaming down your face. practically a weepie. five stars.

Dan is the worst Cloaca but once you get past that you realise everyone else are the glue holding the show together & it’s pretty great. Channel Molly Meldrum & do yourself a favour & download this beauty.

What a fantastic show but I need some tech advice. I have looked everywhere on the Interweb but I can’t find the QAlan site. Keep up the good work.

Great show, even better to hear Andy Zaltzman as guest. Do it again!

Jokes, satire and other more general words that may or may not be in order, fed into your cranial void via the medium of speech. What a time to be alive!

This podcast is great. If you deal with terrible news by laughing at it (because if you don’t laugh you’ll cry) this podcast is for you. Good place to cry/laugh/worry about about climate change, pandemic and xenobots.

The balance of humour, and no-holds-barred look at the state of the world as it is, and not as we’d like to to be, that this show manages is incredibly rare - but they do it somehow and I’m all the better for it! If you want to stay informed, while also having a laugh after work on a weekday -...Read full review »

When hearing about the state of Australian politics you can either laugh or cry. I’d prefer to laugh, and this podcast helps. Keep ‘em coming!

Never fails to inform and make me laugh. Always with a great group of comedians but also an informative guest. Never afraid to interview someone with a differing point of view. I either listen or watch every week

I was quite shocked recently when a respected Sydney journalist said she only discovered A Rational Fear with its Billboard Project because it’s only listened to by millennials. It made me realise that my body is lying to me & I’m not really a baby boomer as A Rational Fear is compulsory...Read full review »

We’ll.. I quite liked this show. It was fun and informative, good news good comedy. Then they got former classmate in for a raucous laugh about the damage newscorp has done to this country. Long time listener first time reviewer here - this is the podcast I look forward to every week. Discussing the most pressing issues our generation faces whilst being topical, funny
bdubac1 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 06/29/21
Topics like climate change, government accountability and discrimination get pushed around by a bunch of comedians and a few rather impressive experts each week, in the Australian context. It’s reassuring to know my fears are founded in reality, not just paranoia.

Laugh out loud funny, but also educational and thought provoking. Always such a great cast of guests each week.

A brilliant mix of razor sharp satire and need-to-know news / current affairs delivered by a rotating roster of top notch comedians.
des_miller via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 01/22/21
Dan and Lewis and their team are impressively witty, so so clever and very very funny. Soak it up, even though their episodes are super topical each week, they age well and the back catalogue is full of timeless gold!
JacquesTan3 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 12/04/20
What they lack in similarity of height, they make up for in similarity of satirical wit, and a cleverness to harness the funniest side of the horrors facing us in the news. Top marks to Dan and Lewis - and the roundabout of friends. As someone with anxiety OCD - it’s always a genuine pleasure to...Read full review »

Both Dan and Lewis are sharp witted satirists, and they attract high quality guests. Besides young comedians, it’s good to see occasional qualified specialist guests comment on a current political issue. Go, guys!

An enjoyable way to become depressed about the world’s current affairs.
MorryMorgan via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 09/14/20
Came to listen for some humour and all I got was a very subjective view of Australian politics. Don’t think I will continue to listen. The guest list is good, but the hosts are just underwhelming in both humour and facts.

Keeping me sane during self-isolation. Dan and Lewis are hilarious and they have some very funny guests!

I was so excited to listen to this and persevered through the entire live show but it really just wasn’t funny. The cast thought so, and I’m really pleased for them, but some better writing would really help.
