Pretty good, but with some weaknesses
1) The most glaring weakness is Siracusa's preference for the beeps and hoops version of the theme song. It reveals a major weakness in his aesthetic judgement. This is a really a major problem. Luckily, his colleagues seems to have found ways to keep this from impacting the show any longer. 2) Marco's willingness to opine about stuff he clearly knows nothing about. Luckily, his colleagues are generally able to and willing to point out when he goes to far (or at least when he goes far too far). *************** But the strengths far outweigh those weaknesses. The hosts are usually quite well informed -- at least in the aggregate -- and usually label their speculation and wild as(s) guesses appropriately. They are all smart. They are all coherent. They display a common understanding of the focus and point of the podcast, resulting in episodes that are more focused and on topic than the casual feel of their conversation might imply. I do miss Dan, though. They should have him on a guest some time.Read full review »
