“Sadly a lot of this is very biased and frankly incorrect. The bias follows the Inquiry of the Mutiny where Christian’s powerful Naval backers made sure he came out better than Bligh- mainly as Bligh had ’lost’ an RN ship. The views expressed do not give justice to the unquestionable ability of Bligh’s skills as a navigator or seaman in getting them 6700kms to Timor after being cut adrift - a most terrible crime putting all those men in such a tiny launch - (which she does not even mention and she says the port ‘was I think a Dutch port…?’ - can’t she do basic research?). The inferences of problems beginning at once are speculative. Please give the man immense credit as a seaman.
As to Christian the mutineers and their Tahitian men and women they first went to Tubuai (which she doesn’t even mention and it’s important) as they spent many months there even building a Fort - Fort George. Only after falling out with the local islanders did they go to Pitcairn - Pitcairn was mapped by the RN but they’d marked its location incorrectly hence why they felt safe enough to go there.”
