“Some really interesting topics covered, but from such a revisionist point of view. Everything is assessed in terms of whether it’s racist or based on gender or misplaced ideas of masculinity - all very 2024! For example, I just found out that the reason I am intrigued by the mystery of Roanoke is because I am desperate to have confirmation that the English have been settled in America since the 1600’s, and the suggestion is that I am therefore racist and or have white supremacist tendencies. I am not, apparently, just interested in it because it’s interesting!!”
