This could be a very nice show for a podcast lover like myself, but I have a hard time focusing on the very interesting content because of the background music. It’s too loud and too constant, so I have to take breaks from listening. Gave up after episode 2...

Listened up till the 4th episode. It’s long drawn out an boring. Nothing seems to happen, slowly.

The numerous ad interruptions significantly impact on the structure narrative flow. Otherwise, there’s nothing here that I’ve not heard before re the Zodiac, bar the self indulgent trips of the host to some of the significant locations, at one point just to “listen”. Crikey

First season was really great enjoyed it a lot! Second season stories good but like literally have of the episodes are taken up by adverts. Where as the first season had none.

I don't like stories about crime stories.
bottlebrushtree via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 01/16/19
The Zodiac investigation is interesting but nothing you can’t read for yourself on Wikipedia. The number of commercials in a 30 min episode is a bit much. I get advertising helps pay for these things but it really rips you from the serial killer storytelling to advertise underwear (not even joking).

This is an excellent podcast with interesting content, highly recommend it.

Ugh
To let Payne even try and cover this famous was the worst - he drags on, lots of adverts it’s just the worst way to find out. Want to listen to this case? Listen to Criminology: The Podcast because that’s how you do a podcast on the Zodiac killer. Payne need to quit while he’s behind.

Amazing narrative, audio quality and a great story.

I often wonder, they try to work back from the killings, but how many people could create those coded messages, google didn’t exist then that kind of information was not widely known, maybe the son of a radio operator in Ww2 or someone that took about those kind of books at the library.

The adds put us off listening past episode 1.

Bit of a dog’s dinner. Interesting to hear more about the case. Payne does less posturing and self congratulation in this series, probably with good reason - it’s a mess. Too much hearsay and junk leave you not knowing what to think. At first we’re led to think that there’s a case of wrongful...

Payne brings absolutely nothing to this other than announcing annoying adverts every 10 mins. Would be so much better without him.

The evocation of place, the times, society & characters are presented so intensely & beautifully, that the murders themselves in each series are all the more electric. All these series, from Up & Vanished to Monster remind me of great literary novels, with such breadth, so many voices, such...

How many commercial breaks are possible in a 30 minute episode you wonder? Well the Answer is somewhat between 3 and 5! You really get like 10 minutes of actual podcast per episode as there are 5 Minutes of recap and a ton of commercials and a 5 minute preview at the End.. have fun.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion (after reading all of those people critiquing this podcast it makes me laugh...they should try to do a podcast and see what theirs turns out like)...mine opinion is that this podcast is great! Top notch production quality, good content from a reliable...

Unbelievable interruptions...really takes way from enjoyment.

Loved the first season and am really loving the second season. However having 3 ad breaks in a 30 min ep is a bit much, and really take you out of the narrative. Fully understand you need to fund the podcast somehow but maybe have all your ads at once.

Atlanta Monster was great. Season two however is a huge let down. Not only are they covering one of the most tired and overdone cases out there, Matt from STDWYTK is hosting and he’s incredibly boring to listen to. The only way it could be any more droll is if they had Ben and Noel on as well....

Really can’t stand the host. Wasn’t able to get through up and vanished for the same reason. Don’t waste your time.

I must admit I did not listen to season 1 , not interesting to me. However, Season 2 is right up my alley! So many facts I did not know, even after reading books about this killer. Thank you . Looking forward to hearing all 15 episodes about this Monster called Zodiac.

This guy’s ego is so out of control he must have legitimately paid for all these positive reviews.

This garbage does an injustice to real investigative journalists. It’s lazy at best, poorly produced with lots of ads! Trash.
Lari's Music via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/06/19
The start of season two is so lame. It just repeats the same facts over and over. They don’t dive into the details whatsoever and on top of that, there is an ad every 8 minutes. I can’t deal. Don’t tell me about a suspect that was quickly ruled out but not give reasons why they were ruled...

Zodiac was done much better by Criminology.

Podcast is alright, but I can’t stand that they have to have super loud noise that’s supposedly music in the background the whole time. It’s just too loud and obnoxious. I can’t listen to season 2 at all, it’s so annoying.

What kind of shell game is this? Every episode is Monster, a very good podcast about Atlanta Child Murders. Yet the heading and photos show the Zodiac Killer. Y’all get it together.

The ad experience is really awful. The show is also bad.
mentalsoak via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/06/19
No clarity on murders/murderer. I enjoyed this for the first few episodes but it lost any clear structure after that
jules186q via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/19
The 30 seconds between ads is less interesting than the ads themselves.
House6464 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/05/19
I was keen to hear this one but way too many adds. One episode in and I’m put off listening to the rest. A real bummer.

Once upon a time, podcasts felt like the last wide-open media terrain unsoiled by tasteless commercialism and salaciousness that is insidious throughout film and television. A community - innocent people - the most desperate and tragic depths of their life have been packaged like cheap pulp...

After the the 3ed episode it get dumb with conspiracy theories and what people feel. Guys a killer.
palsnxbusal via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/04/19
For such short episodes there are way to many ads. If they were longer it wouldn’t be so bad. But they are 20 to 30 minutes with 2 to 3 ad breaks plus ads at the start and end there is more ad then show. I really like Payne Lyndsey’s different shows he does but it seems the more popular he gets...
Mysourcessay via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/04/19
I want to like season 2 of this show, but the ads are killing me. There are 4+ different ad sets in the first episode. And since it’s the same voice (Payne) for both the show & the ads, it’s sometimes hard to tell it’s an ad when he starts talking. I understand that podcasts need to make money,...

Had trouble paying attention to this story.... maybe it’s just my ADHD... would be ok to listen to while I nap.

The level of cave troll is high. Don’t you people have anything better to do. It’s simply audio entertainment. If you don't like it, don’t listen go find something you do like.... seems simple

I remember being terrified. Everyone I knew was scared. White people in Northeast Atlanta, children and adults, being terrorized by a monster and the blind fear that came with it. Hearing that this was such a racially polarizing event, and that people in my community weren’t either aware of it or...
Kiera Byrd via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/04/19
I only see 1 star reviews but somehow this has a 4.5 average. This is a total scam. This podcast could not have been more racially charged. Apparently the disappearance of poor kids in a black neighborhood is the fault of whites Atlantans. Might be more to do with bad parenting than it has to do...

Very excited to hear this podcast about Ted Cruz.
HM3Evans via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 01/03/19
It continues to boggle my mind that Payne Lindsay is able to churn out these half-baked, no-resolution garbage-casts. Now he's f-ing up the story of the Zodiac killer. Every time I hear a pause in "content" I know to start smashing that 15 second forward button to avoid hearing his obnoxious...

I’m not really sure why everyone hates Payne. He’s a good story teller, and great at getting people to talk. To each his own I guess. I thought Atlanta Monster was awesome. Harrowing...eye opening. As a young person living in ATL it was fascinating to hear of a time before hipster farmers markets...

Just started the first season several days ago and I’m hooked!! The mystery and the investigative reporting is great and it keeps you on the edge of your seat the more you listen.

Not sure why people are so against this podcast. I think this is a very well made true crime podcast. If you’re looking for ridiculous conjecture then go listen to the other negative reviews.

I don’t know where all these negative reviews are coming from. I genuinely enjoyed S1 and I can’t wait for S2. Great interviews, storytelling, and production quality
