This is one of the most beautiful and well put together podcasts I have heard in years. Captivating music, beautifully sung and incredibly well acted. The sound effects are stunning, it transports you to the island and whilst I listen I am in another place, wild and beautiful. I love the story...Read full review »

What a wonderful find. The most beautifully constructed story around the lives of the inhabitants of Hirta. A strong and hardy community that faced many challenges in an almost inhospitable climate and how the eventual outcome was unavoidable. Alongside this , a gentle love story threaded...Read full review »

This podcast is great and I highly recommend it! The production is at a commercial level, the story is simple but engaging, the characters are strong, and the acting is top tier. I have only one negative, and it is the music. It's quite bad. The singing is good and there is one song...Read full review »

Wonderful story, I didn’t think it would be my cup of tea, as a musical but the story of Hirta is fascinating to me so I listened with open ears. Highly recommended

Found this reflection of the peoples history of Hirta fascinating and brilliantly crafted as a musical.

I loved the tranditional music and wonderful original songs. The accents were enchanting telling a magical tail of a different way of life. Many thanks!

This was the most immersive, beautiful podcast. I found it totally captivating and listened to it all in one evening. Please do more? It's going to make it nearly impossible to find another podcast to match it. The acting, music, background sounds- wonderful.Read full review »

A truly magnificent podcast that transports you through time, across the water to the gorgeous islands off the west coast of Scotland. By the end, I felt I knew each character as if they were my own family. Would highly recommend this story to anyone from anywhere! Tapadh Leat!

This is possibly my new favorite podcast. The story is great. The music is beautiful. The characters are wonderful and I love them all. I will re-listen just to be a part of Hirta again. Please don’t pass this one up. It may take an episode or two to get into, but if you give yourself the time,...Read full review »

I tried a musical podcast before and couldn’t get through the first episode because I did not like the music. So I had low expectations. Though the story of Atlantic is a familiar one, the music just grabbed ahold of my soul. I listened while on a roadtrip moving to Atlantic Canada and the music...Read full review »

This is a well written, well acted drama with the most perfect musical score that I’ve heard in some time. I binged the whole series in one day and I send my heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in this incredible production. 🥰

I'm a simple person. Promise me a musical or Celtic music, and I'm there. Atlantic: A Scottish Story is both! Set around the turn of the century on Hirta, St Kilda, one of the most remote islands of Scotland, where the climate is harsh, there are no trees, and the locals are proud and...Read full review »

Stumbled upon this podcast by accident & was hooked from the start. I’ve always been fascinated by stories of St Kilda & this podcast brought a small slice of it to life. Beautifully done

Wonderful podcast series. I look forward to every episode (for which I eagerly await each Monday). Albeit the dialects are questionable in area, the characters storylines intertwined with the wonderful music are sublime.

It’s a really lovely show. However the questionable accents almost had me turning off at points, it’s a pet peeve. A lot of them diddnt feel authentic. The January man, his was annoying. But still worth listening too.

This series beautifully captures the nostalgia, the intrigue and the complexity of life on a truly remote island. For me, the music takes centre stage in this excellent drama

The music is beautiful and haunting at times and it’s a unique story that I don’t know about It’s a great idea to have a musical podcast where the story and the music work so well together

I saw the stage production at the Edinburgh Fringe a few years ago, so I knew I was in for a treat, but this is a beautifully realised audio version. It captures the bleak isolation, and the tenderness of the relationships, carrying the listener on an atmospheric tide of song and speech. Looking...Read full review »

Stop listening to bbc drama because of its constant inclusion of woke lecturing shoehorned into every cucking story!

Love the sound of this. The story of the evacuation of St Kilda, a population living on the edge of the Atlantic and starting a new life is a fascinating topic.
