Full of great ideas for new old reading!
I first heard of this podcast from the Inside the New York Times Book Review podcast, where one of their presenters recommended it as 'charming in that British way' (or something similarly worded). I then worked through the entire Backlisted feed (the backlisted backlog) during the 2016 Christmas period, reading many of the titles discussed. I haven't had such a high regard for all of the recommended books as the presenters, but I've been glad to know about all of them, many of which I'd never heard of. The format here avoids that of most other fiction podcasts in eschewing the most recent fiction in favour of theolder and often less well remembered but worth reviving titles. In addition, there's a chatty opening section, a recap of the presenters' general current reading, a tenuous link (QI-style), and a special guest for the title under discussion. Always fascinating -- I've often re-listened after reading the book (it gives me a chance to shout at the radio, James Hollinghurst style). This will appeal if you like reading, other fiction podcasts, the West Wing Weekly (similar in style), or No Such Thing as as Fish. Highly recommended!Read full review »

Unfailingly entertaining and largely to blame for my groaning 'to read' shelf. One of the best things about it is it pushes you out of your comfort zone and is particularly strong on female authors.Read full review »

Very informative, erudite and knowledgeable conversation which is also witty, funny and totally un-po-faced. Highlights...Read full review »

A shining example of all that’s good about podcasts - slightly niche subject (if reading books can really be called niche) brought to life with passion, wit and intelligence. Keep up the good work!
