After moving to Vrindavan, Bal Krishna and his friends were given the responsibility to look after the cattle. He used to go out daily with Balaram and his friends and one fine day, King Kansa sent another demon Vartasur to kill him. Vartasur took the form of a calf but he was quickly spotted by Bal Krishna. Taking Balaram along, he got hold of the tail of the calf and swung it over his head into the trees to end his life.

As the demon attacks on Gokul kept on increasing, one of the elderlies of the village, Upanand Ji, recommended to everyone that to keep the village kids safe it was high time for them to migrate to a nearby forest known as Vrindavan. When everyone agreed to his suggestion, the whole village migrated that day itself and that started the new phase of little Krishna's life.

All Gokul residents were getting cautious with repeated attacks and bad omens they have been experiencing for the last few years. Hence the village elders, especially Upanand ji, suggested that the entire village should leave Brij and move to Vrindavan which was a dense forest next to Govardhan mountain and was a much safer place.
