“Justin McGuire is my cousin by marriage. He has undersold himself as a "veteran baseball journalist." He's a former baseball editor (as in THE baseball editor) for the Sporting News, a Baseball Writers Association of America member, and a Hall of Fame voter. I started listening to this because he's family. You should give it a listen or two because it's really REALLY good.
If you thrill to the sound of "the Giants win the pennant!" every time you hear it (as I do), you'll dig this. Basic format is every episode he interviews the author of a different book about baseball. Some really fascinating discussions if you're a baseball guy, and maybe even if you're not. And if you dig sabermetrics (as I do), you're going to LOVE the intro to the third episode.
If you're looking for something to engage the brain without getting mired in some circular discussion about whose executive orders are worse than someone else's, I can't recommend this strongly enough. But if you're still having circular conversations about who should've won the 1941 American League MVP, there might be some new ammo here for you.”Read full review »

The interivews are thorough and interesting, but they are also the right length. Justin clearly loves baseball...”Read full review »
