Wurster is a brilliant drug.

Wait, you thought it was legendary? What's that? No it's referring to Gary Coleman because of his acting- considering what he's been through. No? Well it is. Just listen you will have your mind blown.

Tom Sharpling and Jon Wurster kill it every Tuesday on the Best Show on wfmu; Best Show Gems is the distillation of that show's comic highpoints in short format.  Laugh and drip from your slits.
DracDillinger via · 10/23/13
The heart of the Best Show is the Scharpling-Wurster comedy partnership, and even though the entirety of the show is perfect, occassionally you want to skip straight to the absurd and imaginitive world of Newbridge, NJ and hear the Jon Wurster spin a story out of control.

The Marky Ramone episode is probably the funniest podcast I have ever listened to. I have listened to it 20 times at least. They are all great by the way. Still waiting on those drumstick-shaped buildings to go up.

A good way to ease into the best show on WFMU, which is timeless, smart, hillarious and brilliant. But really, you need to dive into the whole 3 hours every week to fuly apprciate how great Tom is at what he does.
Gerrystumbaugh via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/04/12
Seriously. The only shame is that it only comes out twice a month.

Love it! I only wish they came out every week instead of two. :(

Jon W and Tom are geniuses at weaving wonderfully bizarre scenarios (usually taking place) in the fictional town of Newbridge. There's a part of me that wants to take issue with the underlying concept of this particular podcast, because nearly every second of every three hour Best Show is a gem...Read full review »

If one of your friends can't stop ranting about the Best Show on WFMU, then this podcast should give you a good idea of what makes the show so funny.

It's the best show.

Scharpling and Wurster's comedic sensibilities are great on their own; when they're together, they're so in sync as to be nearly unbeatable by anyone out there.
sjbrot via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 04/29/12
It's a cavalcade of lies. A mashing up of d list celebrity, alternate history, and tongue in cheek Talk radio quackery. Way better than the Francis Tibbles Show.

So good!

Following Jon Wurster's ridiculous stories while Tom attempts to dissect the finer points is a treat for all comedy fans.

If you're a music nerd with a sense of humour, put the time in to get the pay off from listening to this. You shan't regret it! Then graduate to the Best Show. I recommend it to all those I deem worthy.

I wish I had time enough to keep up with the full 3 hour show every week. It is truly 3 hours of comedy gold. For fools like me who's time management skills to no allow themselves to enjoy all the wit and wisdom that Tom gives us, the "Gems" podcast feed is a godsend. Thanks!

Listened to unfair music reviews... it was the worst. I don't care if its sincere or ironic, it was unbearable. May be that there is better stuff, but I'm done for now.

I don't think I had ever called someone a piece of filth or a hunk of dirt prior to listening to "The Best Show". However, I now begin most conversation that way. Great stuff.

I'm a proud, long time fan of the Best Show, ever since Tom Scharpling stole the WFMU time slot away from Hoy Rockin' Ronny, and the potboiling intrigue around Newbridge, NJ keeps me coming back every week. It's kind of like Twin Peaks, but with less Laura Flynn Boyle and the annoying dude that...Read full review »

Jon Wurster and Tom Scharpling are the goods. This show will deliver about one million dollars worth of comedy to your ipod on a bi-weekly basis. Erase your other podcasts immediately and then listen to each episode of Best Show Gems twice.

This is my favorite! I love the Gems show. It features an abbreviated version of Tom & Jons' Unique brand of comedy show. I prefer to listen live, via the Internet to the full three hour show. The Gems are awesome, kind of like what you would hear on their CD's. If you haven't heard the CD's, you...Read full review »

I like this podcast sometimes. It is long and tedious, but it does make me laugh many times throughout the show. However, every one of these podcasts sound exactly the same. The Best Show on WFMU is one of those things that will change your life. The only thing that bums me out about this new podcast is that it will be easy for anyone to discover this genius show. Before, you had to put some serious time and energy into listening to the full 3-hour show to see why people became such devoted fans.
