“The point about this - as is made clear in Episode 4 - is that it’s as much about the impact of investigative documentaries (in this case, The Staircase) as exploring the case itself. It’s superbly meta in that way. There is a excellent sense of the place throughout and a real depth to the laying out of what happened. Warburton is quality but it’s the chats with his producer, the richly-toned and increasingly incredulous Mark, that really give it an extra dimension. Don’t just go into this thinking it’s like Serial - it’s not just about what happened in the case, it’s about so much more than that”
