These podcasts ALWAYS educates on a variety of conservation related subjects. Hal is so laid back and obviously very well read and intelligent. So very glad I found the podcast.

Great episode and overview of a wonderful place…I have done, and continue to do, lots of trail work in the burn scars there, and one conversation that was missing is that the FS is allowing the trails to completely disappear to the point of disintegrating access. There is a preservationist side...Read full review »

Wide ranging topics on public lands, conservation, hunting & fishing, and more. A great way to be entertained and learn about our greatest resource - our public land. Thanks, Hal and BHA!

I keep coming back to this podcast hoping it gets better, but the host is constantly interrupting the folks he’s supposed to be interviewing. It’s painful to listen to.

Missing some of the best episodes with Jim Pozawits and Guide Ron Mills. Need to put those back up.

Love the variety of locales, topics and guests on this show. Everything from organizing to big Buck story telling. Can we start keeping a book list? Lots of them discussed, could keep me reading fit years on great topics. Keep it up Hal!

And all that y’all are doing spreading the word of conservation and making real action happen on the ground. As an herbalist new to hunting I loved the interview with Susan Leopold. Would be great to have Phyllis Light on as a guest to talk about southern folk medicine. Keep doing great work...Read full review »

CONSTANTLY interrupting guests and talking over the people they are supposed to be asking questions. Painful at times.

This is the perfect podcast for any resident/student/disciple/junkyard dog of the natural world who, as Hal Herring puts it, suffers a “lack of indifference”.

Hal has a wonderfully curious mind which makes for great conversations and very interesting guests. If wild places, hunting, and fishing matter to you, give this podcast a listen.

Hal Herring is an extraordinary host that matches the guests that are on this program. These podcasts dive deep into relevant issues regarding public lands, hunting, eating, and conservation. Hal asks the right questions, digs deep and is involved in his guest! Such a wonderful host. I am a professional chef 30 plus years and found it informative and I share the passion of Hal’s guest. The interview with Chef Edwardo was S.P.E.T.A.C.U.L.A.R! Bravo Hal, freaking BRAVO!

I really appreciate the topics and conversations on this podcast, but Hal’s interview style really puts me off. I wish he would ask more questions rather than tell rambling leading stories and let the amazing folks he’s interviewing do the talking. Hal is an expert on so many things, but we know...Read full review »

This podcast keeps getting better. Love them all but your line up September through November was outstanding. Clay Hayes was awesome and your guests and topics have been not only interesting but super informative. Keep em coming.

Hal really understands conservation & environmental issues from the perspective of a life-long outdoorsman. Don’t be fooled by his Alabama accent, he’s a smart dude, as are his knowledgeable guests. - Felton

Hal Herring is Redneck Genius. His depth of research and knowledge of the subjects covered by his perfectly chosen guests make him an excellent interviewer. I am grateful to be so well informed while being entertained. Definitely worth one’s time.

This is my favorite podcast. Conservation with hunting and fishing as the main focus. Hal Herring is a true master interviewer. Don’t let his Alabama accent throw you. His knowledge of most topics is very deep and he is always very prepared for the show.

I love the topics and the guests are top notch. Hal could do better at letting the guests speak instead of speaking for them and trying to lead them. Not a deal breaker, but I just don’t understand why he’d do most of the talking when he’s the host and not the guest. Anyway, good work and if you...Read full review »

The best podcast out there for all things conservation and wild places. My only complaint is I spend a bunch of money on the many books Hal discusses with his guests. I appreciate the book discussion and references as much as anything.

I just wanted to say that I’ve been listening to the podcast for a while now. I think the latest episode with Traditional Bow Hunter and biologist Ron Rohrbaugh is one of the best. I might just listen to it again. Thanks BHA and thanks Hal! Keep up the great work.

I really enjoy Hal's commentary - however, I can't bring myself to support BHA overall any longer - Land Tawney and the BHA board are full of left-wing special intrest hacks. I care deeply about public lands, if you do as well spend your energy/time on TRCP. I wouldn't trust BHA.Read full review »

SJW
Seems like more and more, every guest has some SJW background, or they’re a self proclaimed climate expert. Would think this show would be about hunting and fishing to some degree.
