Great story. WAAAAAYYY too many ads.
This could have been a fascinating deep dive into a really interesting personal story and excellent examination of the NYC punk scene in the late 70s and early 80s. And I’d love to hear more from Ms Spheeris because I think she’s probably got TONS of great stories of the 80s. Unfortunately, each episode has only about 21 minutes of actual content, with the rest being intros, outros and a tsunami of ads. Not sure why they did this - it’s not like podcasts have a built-in time limit. They could have added 10 mins of content to each episode (I’m sure they’ve got plenty of quotes in the can that they could have included) to balance out the extra-long, ad-soaked outros, for example. Anyway, it’s a shame because I’d have loved to have heard more from most of the people they’ve interviewed.

Ads, ads, and some more ads. The ads occasionally break for a podcast.

Hello. I was browsing through my library and saw your big sugar podcast. I’m so happy with your work in bringing this story for all of to hear. Amazing story and great work exposing this sort of stuff that has gone on for decades. Andrew
