Big Sugar
This was very enlightening as a former resident of SW Florida we always saw the sugar fields and knew of the unfair working conditions as had friends who worked in industry. I also knew damage industry was doing the water supply but $$ always wins. The sheer poverty in the Belle Glade area is 3rd world and you’d never know it was America. Interestingly many of the fields now have private prisons on them.

I’m a Floridian and my family are farmers so I know all about sugar cane, my dad would grow a few rows of it and we would chew on the sugar cane. I do remember how hard it was and your description of it is spot on, it’s hard deep green and looks much like bamboo, the plant itself could cut you....Read full review »
