Important Story to Tell but Exploitative
I found myself touched and repulsed at different times listening to this podcast. The recording of the Guatemalan relatives being used to make a podcast is horrible. I’d like some explanation about this. Are you sending the proceeds of the podcast to Isabel? Does she know she is part of a podcast and her grief is being consumed by strangers? At other times, I’m touched by the relationship being Diego and his adoptive mother, but their conversations seem so scripted. It sounds like they are reading to each other from essays. At best, they seem rehearsed. It’s a lot of cringey moment, but overall, I think this is a really important story for people to know about. I’m just not sure about the raw emotional exploitation of the Guatemalans. It’s one thing if the podcast is helping Isabel and some profit is going to her for her part in this story, but that’s not explained.

I’m really enjoying this podcast; the history, the interviews, the secrets revealed , the humans impacted by the science of DNA. Well researched and presented.

How disappointing...Read full review »
