This was a very well-executed podcast on a subject that I think should be more in the public spotlight. I learned a lot about the incel “movement“ (not sure what else to call it). And I felt like the treatment of incels was as balanced as it could be. At the end though they got into this whole...Read full review »

This is an informative podcast and topic and it is interesting to see the viewpoint of men who think like that. However, it’s beyond frustrating that it’s always about coddling these type of men for their own insecurities. Another burden women have to shoulder while also being the target of these...Read full review »

Such an interesting story and well produced!

This is such a well-researched and well-presented show that really shows journalistic integrity, a quality that is greatly missing today. The creator presents a very real look at the incel movement, it’s origins, how it got hijacked, and how mentally ill men are most susceptible to it. It doesn’t...Read full review »

A subject like this could fill several books. I felt like the presenter did a fine job balancing the sadness and understanding of the incel community compassionately while holding the individual and the violent parts of the culture to account. Solving this societal problem will take a lot of...Read full review »

This podcast brought on a level of learning and concern that I was previously unaware of. The term “incel” is thrown around so often, frequently without a proper understanding of what the word means. Also find it incredibly interesting to observe the intersectionality between incel-ism and autism.

Terrifying view of the recruitment of young men to misogynist communities and how one young autistic man used incel ideology to justify a mass murder.

I keep coming back to CBC for podcasts. This was excellent.

I knew this was going to be a hard listen but maybe the most dispiriting part is the profligate use of “both sides”. I am begging the producer to read some bell hooks and come back with a better closing statement, because we are ALL scared.

Wow
Very enlightening and extremely well done. I’ve been working to end male violence against women for 20 years, and I learned a lot from this podcast. Thank you! I encourage others to listen.

This topic is beyond important in our societies. I'm at loss of words to describe the talent, precision and nuances that make up this podcast. Sorry for being extra in my review.Read full review »

Good storytelling - no lazy conclusions, lots of stereotypes challenged.

I think it is admirable that you approached the INCEL world from a sympathetic POV… but it definitely goes too far at points. Of all the people that are really punished by societal expectations, this lot of guys represents the worst example of what humans (males especially) can turn out to be...Read full review »

Wish the host’s cadence wasn’t so strange. Had to stop listening because random pauses and weird emphasis on random words was very distracting.

Important subject and passionate creators, but it felt a bit bloated. Wish it wasn’t stretched to five episodes.

This could have been a great podcast, but unfortunately this show is more about the host than the ideas it merely grazes. I was barely hanging in, most of the time.

No.
The host uses Evan, her “friend”, as an insider into the life and mind of a spree murder in Canada. The two men, with Asperger’s, were classmates in a special education class together in high school. Evan’s interviews for the show are really irritating. The show doesn’t seem to have any real...Read full review »

“White male patriarchy” “January 5 riots” “White supremacy” “Racism” (yawn) This podcast does a commendable job at taking a fascinating and concerning topic of the dangers of incel ideology and awkwardly injecting all the very, very tiresome and usual far left talking points. Prom? What’s a prom? College? Is that a technical college or a university? Attorney? Is that what we call lawyers in Canada now? Y’all could have boiled this down into 2 or 3 podcasts. The host does a great job at attempting to further divide society. Story of this heinous act and explanations are told from a leftist point of view, and do a great job at blaming the extreme right. This podcast had a huge effect on me. As when I look back on my life I realise that if one or two things had have gone differently, in my teens, I could have drifted toward this type of world view. It’s like a medley of difficult topics that lead to the horrific van attack on yonge street that day. Having been out of the country in 2018 I didn’t really get the full picture from MSM. Excellent podcast illustrates the growing problem of alienated young men conditioned and encouraged to misogyny, resentment and violence against women, and most disturbingly, how we don’t know what to do about it.

Sad, and scary. It doesn’t shy away from hard questions. I had some discomfort with the way Evan participated. I felt at times that he was too vulnerable.

I felt uncomfortable listening to this podcast, and I think thats why I liked it so much. I am a woman, but haven’t always fit in, especially as a kiddo. The story is well produced. It’s a little bit too sympathetic to Incels though. People interviewed are worried that incels will be dehumanized, yet pretty much all incels do is disgustingly dehumanize women. Incels are terrorists and should be labelled as such.
