Listened to Joe Cornish episode and the host was woefully underprepared - didn’t know much about the guest or his work, kept calling his film ‘Attack of the Block,’ got confused about Iron Man. Interview was a mess. Do some research!

The 4-5 episodes I’ve chosen to listen to so far have all have very good information from the guest speakers that really know their stuff. However, three issues affect this podcast: 1. The sound quality of the speakers. I know these are busy people that don’t have much time, but I REALLY want to...Read full review »

Love this podcast! As a writer and screenwriter, it’s a great listen! I’ve enjoyed several episodes so far.

The nasal VO announcer will pick at your brain over time. This podcast is just an opportunity for the host to tell some decades-old, quasi relevant story about his proximity to the industry, and how a trailer made waves over 20 years ago. And penis enlargement ads should tell you what this host...Read full review »

Host sometimes seems uninterested in what the guest is talking about.

I get it. This is a business. But you can tell that the business is more important than the experience. You will be inundated with all sorts of stuff you don’t need. And their recent choice of guest makes me wonder why I bothered listening at all. Kevin Sorbo? Seriously? Lol.

The topics are good, but it often sounds like interviews are being done from a closet in a basement. Its hard to hear.

I really do understand that ads are how they make their revenue, but the sheer amount of ads in one episode is rough. Especially when they are repeating the same ads over and over. Also, would also love if they had more women, gender expansive, and people of color on. That aside, the host is...Read full review »

This podcast, the host, it’s content and guests are phenomenal. But the commercials are absolutely maddening. I’d rather pay a subscription than endure these commercials.

Simple. Read the title. The resources this provides are priceless. The host is brilliant and carries the show well. The commercials ruin the flow of the show. Makes it hard to listen to a whole show.
Gpm2011 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 12/13/22
Has the potential to be a really fun and informative show but right now it plays like a series of ads broken up by the occasional segments of interview.

This has been a wealth of knowledge for me as a new screenwriter, and I’m trying incorporate everything I can. I started at the beginning, and I’m 44 episodes in after 2 weeks. It is a journey, and the all the guests, insider info, film, workshop, and book recommendations are there to guide me.
Joshm77 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 10/28/22
It would be 4 stars if not for the commercials. Best explanation would be he insists on paying all his guests and he does it by playing constant ads. If he gets people to come on for free but still has these many ads… not cool.

I’m not sure if Alex just repeats himself a lot of if he repost content, but it feels repetitive. Still some great info but it feels like it’s the same as his other shows.

Cool guests but the interviewer is utter trash. Has no idea what he’s talking about. Laughs at everything. Panders to every guest and adds absolutely nothing. Talks over them. Just listened to my first episode with Paul Chitlik. Great takeaways for rewrites. Also loved Alex’s tip on writing 3 screenplays and wait until you’re finished with the third before you start revising the first one. The key is you’ll be a better writer by that time. Well done. 👏

He has great guests on. But you could wasted doing a drinking game where you took a shot every time he nerds out on The Dark Knight, Tarantino, or Marvel Movies. Mr. Host needs to ask more relevant questions FOR the listener. By not asking questions, his podcast session gets off track easily. The listener has nothing to take from the conversation.
