I still listen to the repeats. Reminds me of me and my BFF Laura's phone calls. For a similar vibe show but with a guy and girl xo host, I recommend "Community News with Paul and Sasha". Very funny and familiar tone to this show.Read full review »

So sad to see this show go but excited for the next steps in their journey! I recommend the podcast Status Post Adulting if you’re looking for a similar vibe and best friend energy. Thank you for 300+ wonderful episodes!

Just wanted to convey my thanks for all that you've given us over the years. You've taught me to view my friendships differently, and to really recognize the value they hold and to nurture them accordingly. That alone is life changing. Not to mention all of the funny conversations, new...Read full review »

I have been listening since 2015 and just wanted to say thank you to Aminatou, Ann, and Gina for showing up every week- y’all have brought so much introspection, comfort, and critical thinking to me and so many others. I Love Big Friendship and I’m excited to see the work y’all will continue to...Read full review »

I wanted to like this but gave up for a long time after an early show in which they talked at length about Aminatou’s interview with RBG and then— in the same episode!!! repeatedly talked about “old people,” using the phrase in a bizarrely derogatory way (re: inability to use technology in a...Read full review »

I had to stop listening after many years as my politics evolved out of neoliberal girlboss feminism and into leftism. Their claims to anti capitalism seem shallow and unexplored. If the scam is structural as you say, then could you get into structural economic issues and expand your almost...Read full review »

This last episode, “Queer and Questioning,” is literally everything I’ve been feeling. I loved it so much. It reinforced so many of my feelings and reassured me everything will work out. Thank you for your content, your interviews, your research, the space you take up.

Like others, I prefer the conversational episodes to the interviews, though some interviews are fantastic! For example, this show got my 70 year old mom to start advocating for police abolition. But mostly I’m here to tell people who have an issue with women saying “like” to chill out and quit...Read full review »

I started listening to CYG in 2015, and listening to Ann and Aminatou talk every Friday has become a ritual for me. Just like I have changed, so have they- and honestly, I love it. They put shine theory into action by giving their friends and other experts a platform. They practice what they...Read full review »

Liberal trash. Only listened to a few minutes and couldn’t take it. The whinny up talking voices make it even worse.

I love Call Your Girlfriend and have been a fan for years. The hosts are both so smart, insightful, and enjoyable to listen to, and their friendship shines through. I’ve gained so much through the guests they choose to interview, the books and shows recommended/reviewed, and the news shared....Read full review »

On paper, show has a wonderful premise. In reality, the hosts are whiny, privileged, as well as super cis & straight in their POV- a kind of old girlboss neolib feminism that excludes so many of us. This is clearly more about money now than any friendship they may have started out with.
Gr8Gatzbi via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 04/10/21
Don’t get the same sense of camaraderie from the show now that they’ve basically made it an interview podcast where the hosts take turns interviewing ppl. Interaction between the hosts was what made the show. They should do the interviews together. The show is not what it once was. Sad.

I listen to this podcast when I want a heaping does of friends and feminist realness (is that a word?). Ann and Aminatou are funny, smart, sassy, and extremely grounded. Thank you so much for doing this it’s upsetting that Biden had an opportunity to make a change in the acceptance of women being harassed. Too bad that people didn’t know this if this was trump it would have been bombarding all media outlets.

I enjoy the rapport between Ann and aminato but don’t love all the interviews they’ve had lately. I know they don’t like to talk a lot about their personal lives but episodes where they do more of the talking are my favorites.

Unfortunately I picked this as the first one of their podcasts to listen to. This speaker is a judgemental snob and a perfect example of what not to be or do in a time of pandemic ! Where was the human element in any of this?

Do these women have any joy in their lives? This podcast has devolved into a soap-box-shame-machine that leaves the listener defeated.

I think I speak with many others that these two women are phenomenal and the platform that they have cultivated is unbelievably powerful. 2020 has been anxiety inducing for all of us. But hearing our hosts anxiety after anxiety has dampened the show a lot. It seems they’ve softened their edges (and upped the Valley Girl vocal fry?) to draw in more listeners. I’m envious of folks who are just joining them. I really miss how the show used to be. I’ve been listening for a lot of years. I have their book. I have so much respect and appreciate for them. But I just really miss how the show used to be. It almost doesn’t even seem like they’re friends anymore. What’s happening??

You two are fabulous. Thank you for the work, honesty, and intentionality you put into each week. The value per minute rating of this podcast is OFF the charts. It’s just a bright spot every week no matter the topic. Thank you!

This podcast is sometimes the highlight of my week! I always look forward to their carefully crafted interviews, but love the shows where they do deep dives just the two of them. So easy to listen to, funny and actually improves my life.

Brianne003 via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/24/20
I ordered their book, “Big Friendship” and it is great, but the topics of the podcast are not for me. I like the topics in the book because I can relate to them more, but these ladies are great and they are doing their thing!

I love this show so much and always will, but I feel like Ann and Aminatou have lost sight of what drew people to this show to begin with. Y’all are some judgmental ladies. I listened for several years and finally stopped because I felt bad about myself after most eps. No real self reflection here, just self adulation. Letting Kamala get off easy, then judging people for liking true crime. K lol.
