“At some time in the past, the One Shot Podcast did a series of Star Wars episodes featuring two different systems: the Star Wars d20 system, based on DND 3.5, and the more recent Edge of the Empire system. These were some of my personal favourite episodes, in part because they starred some of my favourite series regulars: John Patrick Coan and Kat Murphy, who would go on to actually GM the second series of the Star Wars game. Any episode featuring either of them is fantastic, so episodes that have both are doubly so. The characters include Trystan Valentine (~guitar solo~), the rogue, Leenik, the Rodian with a hairpiece, and R2D20, the murderous astromech droid.
Since then, they’ve launched a new podcast which is meant to be a longer-form campaign podcast as opposed to the wide variety of lengths each podcast series on One Shot can be. This podcast is actually hosted by Kat Murphy, continuing as the GM for this podcast, and continues the story of One Shot's Star Wars podcasts.
If this sounds interesting to you, I urge you to check it out. The story begins where the last one ends: with the characters on the run, trying to figure out what to do with the Plans they’ve stolen. They find themselves on a strange planet with bizarre wildlife and smugglers and bounty hunters, and is a planet that might be familiar to you if you've read the Thrawn trilogy.
Note that you don't have to listen to all those episodes before you listen to this podcast, although it might help you get a handle on the characters and their players.”Read full review »
