Peace is a lie. There is only passion.
(Writing another review because Itunes ate my first one >:( ) The cast of the One Shot Campaign cast is simply wonderful. They have breathed such a life into the characters, that I find myself, after having binged listened to them despereate to hear more. I care about the characters, and want to see what is going to happen next, or what zany antics they will get up to, as well. The players, have all crafted hilarious characters, each with a distinct personality that are likeable. Kat is a top notch GM. She has an ability that I wish I had more of as a GM and that is an ability to just roll with the crazy stuff her characters throw at her. She is great at improvising things when her characters decide to jump off the path they are on, which happens a lot. She exemplifies the philosophy of the Fantasy Flight Star Wars, "Yes, and..." method of gamemastering. The stories she has been weaving, sometimes despite her characters efforts to go anywhere but toward the next scene, have really ramped up. Especially in the Kaiburr Crystals arc. Without giving spoilers, that took a delightfully dark turned, that had my mouth agape. I loved it. The group as a whole are a little silly, and sometimes things drift into slapstick, but they do it really well. The whole cast, both players and GM, all play well off of each other, and they keep me laughing. Someone looking for something a little more serious might be put off by this, I wasn't even sure about it at first, but I bought in pretty earlier after listening to a few episodes. The production quality is top notch. You can hear everyone well, and everyone has a very pleasant voice to listen to. Especially Kat. I could listen to her talk about probably anything, and be happy. Some of the earlier episodes might induce nerd rage, if you are prone to that, because they are still learning the rules. I found myself with a bit of "but, but... that's not how you do it." If you listen and find yourself doing that, just get over it. Once I was able to remind myself that different tables do things differently, I was able to relax and enjoy the show. Later on Kat explains from time to time that some of the rules they do differently are by design, and it makes sense. Also, it is another that I need to employ as a GM more. If you don't know the rule right away, make something up and keep going. It is the more entertaining way to go.Read full review »

Kat’s an impressively skillful GM, and Players James, Johnny, and JPC bring a wonderful dynamic and back and forth for the listeners. This podcast hits great emotional notes and is consistently laugh-out-loud...Read full review »
