I'm Ringing that Bell
I've read a lot of the reviews for your podcast, that have some people so wound up, just typing the words "left", "liberal, and/or "woke", their underwear **have** to be bunched up in their arseholes by now. Thankfully there are some more moderate people/reviews, and I find myself nodding in agreement as I read them. They opine that your show has become exceedingly "political", and I have to agree that you've spent much more time speaking about social issues in the last year or so, than actual true crime. Of course, it's important for all of us to be cognizant that many social issues can and do lead to crime, such as poverty, addictions, and mental illness to name a few. But when those issues get more airtime in each episode (or 6) than the actual crime you've presented as the topic, that's the problem. For me, and many of your listeners, based on their reviews it seems. I do take issue with what a number of people have remarked, often with misplaced and truly unproductive anger, in respect to, in their eyes, your 'left leaning' views. Anyone who thinks having empathy for people (which, in case someone needs this explanation, does **not** mean agreeing with the person), is purely a "left" only position, probably needs to go back and spend more time in high school social studies classes. I quite like that you know when empathy is an appropriate response for some or all of the players involved, always depending on the circumstances of each. The problem for me, like I mentioned earlier, is how much time you now spend *only* speaking about those social issues. And so much less, of late, on true crime. It's of course your prerogative to allow for the podcast to 'evolve' in the direction it has - whether that was via organic transformation or conscious decision. It's just unfortunate for those of us who are struggling with this evolution, and more and more we just long for the "good old days" of hearing well researched, true crime stories, from our adopted Aussie-Canadian. So....I guess this means goodbye. Take good care Kristi, and with genuine sincerity: good luck moving ever closer towards whatever horizon your heart leads you to.Read full review »

So interesting to hear details from many of these crimes as they almost all seem to have media blackouts at the time they are committed. Each episode has revealed details I didn't know about the crimes featured.Read full review »
