“I tend to find most videogame podcasts so obnoxious and juvenile as to be unlistenable, so this show is really refreshing.
It's quite simple, really - a few guys sit round discussing a particular videogame in satisfying depth. There's a definite enthusiasm for retro gaming and preserving the heritage of gaming's past on the show (and a hearty respect and admiration for the golden age of videogame magazines of the 80s and 90s - almost as much as the games themselves, which if you're anything like me you'll appreciate!) - but this isn't a rose-tinited spectacles type affair - the show looks forward as much as back.
The hosts and guests are really likable and enthusiastic - geunine good-natured humourous exchanges instead of tedious in-jokes and forced 'banter'. No rampant egos talking over everyone else - just informed, intelligent discussion and dissection of classic - and not so classic - videogames, and a real understanding of and passion for the artforms unique eccentricities and charms. Professional editing and production, and the theme tune is great too. This is fast becoming one of my absolute top podcasts.
In fact the only downside I can think of is that I often wish I'd played more of the games they cover!”Read full review »

Having listened to the C&R guys before this venture on older podcasts, its plain to see(hear) that the guys are extremeley knowledgeable on their subject matter...”Read full review »

“Still in its infancy, this already feels like an essential podcast. To those familiar with the previous work of the presenters this will come as no surprise. All have gaming and podcasting pedigree, and in this show offer a fresh approach and structure.
I'm certainly looking forward to see...”Read full review »
