An Alternative Composition
No longer shall we hear views on games that are less than a week old, a handful of hours played and already dripping from unwarranted superlatives being placed over a game only to no longer hear about it weeks down the line. Cane and Rinse take an alternative look into gaming with each show is a targetted 90 minute timeline of discussion on one subject. You will never hear empty praise about the latest games to hit the shelves, the topics discussed could be from old retro games to games released in the same year, instead the team focus their attention onto a game and deconstruct everything about it from unusual nuances, storylines, controls, sound and features and discuss whether the game is worth praise or not and why, with fully explained reasons from the team. The reason for this, every member on the podcast must have not only played the game, but have completed it. That is the criteria and it's why you can trust that what the stable of presenters say holds water. The conversations are in-depth, sometimes technical, but always interesting and never intimidating. But best of all, because of the nature of the show, no episode is out of date. You can go back to any episode and hear a full breakdown of a game so there's never any rush to have to keep up or listen to every show when it's released, complete the game first and then listen to it or alternately, listen to it if it's a game you're interested in and it might compell you to play it yourself (but be warned: there will be spoilers.)Read full review »

Good insightful, intelligent game talk. I like the format of taking an older game series and breaking it down. Feels fresh as it avoids the usual "game of the week" talk. The show is made up of veterans of other big uk podcasts so they know what they're doing. Recommended.Read full review »

I am from the U.S., but I love listening to these enthusiastic Englishmen. Their honest and nigh-objective analysis of old and new games is very entertaining and informative. It is also interesting to hear about how gaming in PAL regions used to be.
