“Many of the albums reviewed here by Carla and Brad are ones that I’ve loved for many years now, but I’m enjoying hearing the hosts’ fresh perspectives and following their process of discovery. The research and context they provide for each album is great, and it definitely enriches each episode. For example, I especially enjoyed hearing about Kluster’s time at the Zodiak Free Arts Lab before losing Conrad and donning a C.
A note to the hosts: Embrace the prog!
I’ve been quite amused by the closing segment of each episode in which Carla and Brad debate whether the krautrock album they’ve been listening to is prog. I find it so amusing because I definitely experienced this conundrum while first discovering bands like Faust, Amon Düül II, and Can. My eventual conclusion: It IS prog! In the sense that it’s truly progressive music that breaks from the conventions of commercial rock. In my mind, embracing this definition of prog enriches it’s overall meaning beyond the pompous schlock that is ELP, Jethro Tull, et al. I’m no longer afraid to admit publicly that I like prog, and I’m curious to see if Carla and Brad eventually will, too! ;-)”
