Just adore this pod, sounds like it’s super niche and there wouldn’t be enough content but trust me that is not the case!! So much more than just survival cannibalism… historical stories presented in an entertaining and informative way. Who knew doomed Antarctic exploration would have so many...Read full review »

This might sound like a particularly niche podcast subject, but each episode is a completely fascinating, informative story of survival cannibalism, told with compassion and a good bit of humour. Genuinely get excited every time theres a new episode out

The dry humor, the quality of research, the storytelling and of course - the cannibalism!!! Please don’t stop! Think you could do an episode on the archeological evidence of human self-extinction on Easter Island?

I actually started listening to this podcast because I am connected to a survivor of one of these episodes professionally and wanted to hear more about their experience. Needless to say after the one episode I was hooked! Binged this in just a few days. Keep it up ladies!

This podcast makes me feel sick. I’ve listened to every episode. Love this!!

my current favourite podcast - covers topics that, to be fair, i’m already interested in, but the meticulous research and the delight that alix and carmella take in telling these grisly tales makes casting lots a joy to listen to

I love listening to this niche topic and this is definitely the best show of them all. I listen to them in bed at night and often find myself too intrigued to fall asleep. This is a great show and I would absolutely love to hear more from these guys!

After the podcast “Death in the Afternoon” ceased uploading in 2019, I didn’t know how much I had missed the quirky tales of weird deaths and how different people deal with them until I found this pod. These talented ladies are real, funny, give great context, and tell the tales with their...Read full review »

Great podcast! I greatly enjoy how well-informed and nuanced the discussion is, while remaining hilarious. I also enjoy that there is a transcript and further readings. Would recommend (and have already done so)

I can’t tell you how long I’ve wished and searched for a podcast on this exact topic. I’m so glad it exists and I can’t wait for more episodes. This podcast is so unique, it covers a fascinating niche topic that other podcasts shy away from. Thank you, Alix and Carmella!

I woke up today thinking why doesn’t anyone do a podcast on cannibalism. A topic that scares people but to me seems more efficient and inevitable. Then looking up the Raft of Medusa I found this and I’m hooked.

I just kind of stumbled across this podcast on Twitter. The subject matter is weird, but it’s so, so good. I love the frankness the hosts use when talking about such a difficult subject matter. They use humor without being disrespectful or over the top

The hosts are very knowledgeable and are able to keep the stories interesting and easy to keep track of- even with the gruesomeness of the topic they keep it light while still recognizing the struggles that people who resorted to cannibalism went through. Bravo!

I didn’t know I needed a whole podcast about survival cannibalism but I am so glad I found it! Funny and informative and given me so many interesting facts about people eating people. Please do a 2nd season.

Really enjoyable - Alix & Carmella do a great job of balancing a humorous tone with a dark subject matter. They clearly have a great time recording the episodes, and they’re really fun to listen to.

Honestly, I cannot get over how much fun this is to listen to. The hosts do such a good job of being tongue-in-cheek (pun intended) while also being respectful and non-judgemental of the titular topic. I find myself hungrily awaiting each new episode. Well done!

You know sometimes you read a bit about a really interesting topic late at night on Wikipedia, and you know you should be going to bed, but it's such a compelling rabbit-hole that you just can't resist reading on? This podcast feels like that, except that instead of going it alone, two...Read full review »
