I thought the podcast was really interesting. Did you try to get to Natalia’s family? Surely her adoptive family would have something to say. I hear what you say about mental illness. But her victims have my sympathy. Not Natalia

What a truly amazing woman to rise above her demons and be a voice for her baby. Fantastic podcast albeit just awful content. Well done Anna.

This podcast is based on an interesting and exceptionally unfortunate case. The first 4 episodes are well paced and structured and appear to be leading towards a conclusion that might even allow the listener to conclude ‘whodidit’ It creates an honest description of the various characters...Read full review »

This genre is beginning to feel done to death. This podcast was not well put together and did not grip me.
Leo-taco via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 01/08/18
admittedly I was fascinated by the first 5 episodes....but by episode 6 there is no clues...no evidence whatsoever...and really no credible suspects and locals who are sure she drowned in the lake as many have before..... which means we get nowhere and this is all just brnging up emotions for a...Read full review »

Great storytelling. Great interviewing. The mother speaks so candidly about her 'failures' and repeated attempts to rebuild her life - I can't imagine what she has been through - at least she is pushing on through. I hope at some stage she gets the closure and peace of mind she deserves.Read full review »

It is a great piece of investigation journalism, well balanced! Anna is a fantastic narrator and I hope we will have a second series of Chasing Ghosts. For the ones who said that this is "amateurism", well I challenge you to put this all together. Yes It raises questions but a journalism is not...Read full review »

This well-researched and written podcast was the kind you just have to keep listening to - it’s the podcast version of a book you can’t put down! I just hope it brings light to the case and someone comes forward with information to help solve it.

Fabulous journalism. Gripping story. My heart absolutely bleeds for Nicki and her family. Her incredible honesty and profoundly genuine pain had me in tears many times. Listeners = awareness of the case, so please give this one a go.

The journalist was very respectful of the family and I appreciated it. It wasn’t sensationalised or done in poor taste. I would definitely listen to more by this journalists/team.

If you’re expecting this to be as good as Serial or even as good as Black Hands, don’t bother. Not much of a dialogue to follow, no evidence.. not sure if it needed to be an entire pod cast series. Really just felt like The Herald trying to jump on the true crime bandwagon.

Sadly raises more questions than answers but wonderfully produced local content. Well done NZ Herald and Anna Leask. Hope there will be more!

Anna Leask strikes the tricky balance of telling a gripping, mysterious tale while maintaining empathy & respect for the real people involved. It is a story told in an engaging yet professional way and doesn't lose its purpose of informing and drawing attention to the case in favour of falling...Read full review »
