Best in depth analysis of US politics I have come across.

I can’t believe Check and Balance is part of The Economist’s otherwise good offerings. The answer is these lies are just too unbelievable for anyone to believe. The economy is a mess. If you’re not a homeowner or you are a retired person with a pension or a taxpayer - the economy is the worst....Read full review »

The blanket conclusion that no one likes either candidate is in accurate and quite annoying. I’ll be glad to see you all with egg on your faces when your predictions turn out to be widely wrong come November.

I have been an Economist subscriber for years and still am, but my inability to listen to podcasts through Apple Podcasts is more than frustrating. The Economist and Apple need to fix this absurd issue. The only way I can listen to the podcasts now is through the Economist app, and that is hardly...Read full review »

I’m a Canadian physio, so politics and history were not major study areas for me. This is the one podcast I listen to every week, I look forward to it coming out each Friday. The hosts are incredibly bright. They are thoughtful, human, and interested in doing journalism well. More people need the...Read full review »

I have an economist subscription but can not get through new pay wall as my phone does not have latest operating system! I am not spending $1,000 on new iPhone to hear C& B!!! Still listening via podcast section of my economist app on phone but not convenient.

No question these folks are five stars. But seems there’s an issue with the new Apple subscription linking, resulting in my usual Friday afternoon gratitude at hearing their thoughs being replaced with a bit of a sad silence. Can some technologically-adept person look into the issue?

I am a big fan of Checks & Balance and look forward to listening every week. As a Canadian I am fascinated and often baffled by the politics of our neighbours to the south. Checks and Balance brings a modicum of understanding and perpective on the current events. Their intelligent analysis,...Read full review »

I look forward to the occasional free episode, but I will not be buying a subscription. I want to support ethical journalism, but I also want to support my family. Doesn’t make the slightest effort to present anything but extreme liberal views, ignores anything that could be a negative for Democrats

The subscription is a no-brainer even if only for this pod, let alone for all the high quality Economist shows. We’re in a thick soup of hot takes and derivative content - we need objective curation helping us see through to what matters, and we need context, both historical and global. This has...Read full review »

It’s been good knowing you and a joy to listen to such excellent podcasts each week. It’s sad to know that John & Charlotte & Idrees will be continuing their discussions in muffled tones behind a wall from next month on. Maybe I would’ve taken out a subscription if it had been for less....Read full review »

I’m a bit bummed they’re going to put this show fully behind the paywall instead of simply offering the show with ads to the non paying public and allowing subscribers to listen to an ad-free version, like many podcasts have done. I enjoy the show, but I’m looking to cut back on my subscriptions,...Read full review »

But likely to lose a lot of listeners as the Economist starts their subscription plan. Even a couple dollars will be enough to lose folks to the many free shows available. Too bad because all people would benefit from listening to Idrees.

It’s clearly setup with hosts that come from political idealogy, which is great. It’s unfortunate how little effort Charlotte puts in to mask her contempt for all conservative values. Overall it’s a somewhat fair podcast that attempts to engage both sides of a topic, if you can take Charlotte...Read full review »

I really enjoy the in depth discussions. Only drawback is the female reporter with a vocal fry. All reporters should be trained to eliminate their vocal fry if they speak that way. It’s torture to listen to.

This is one of my favorite podcasts. Y’all do a great job, and I say y’all and I’m not from Texas. Yes, Texas is growing and people are moving there. Really enjoyed the EV road-trip podcast. Was wondering if you would ever consider including the environmental/sociological negative implications in your episodes. I am relatively new to listening to Checks and Balances and am so happy I found it. Not the Russian one! Longtime listener — pods vary wildly in quality of analysis; not as good of late.
