“This podcast definitely jolted me out of being a jaded coach. One episode I listened to on the way to a tournament which I was dreading because we were in poor form. I'd been crabby for a while and one episode got me out of it. My players had become scared of making mistakes because I'd started getting annoyed all the time. The episode I listened to went into the mental side of why players play and it just blew me away and made me realize why I loved coaching. My pre-game warm ups were great, I coached problems instead of getting crabby, and the boys played great. We didn't win the tournament, but we finished second and performed beautifully. Any time I feel a bit jaded I think of that moment. If I'd have carried on I would have lost that team and a number of others and gone into some horrible desk jockey job.
