I can’t continue to listen given the fact that they play publish such awful sexists.

Always succinct, well-informed, accessible with exactly the right experts for the subject. Fun too!

Sometimes the mask slips even with more reasonable sounding Conservatives like Fraser Nelson describing the recent racist scandal against Diane Abbott when the Tory donor said she made him want to kill all black people as a “small thing” 18/3/24 for reference. Shocking and shameful.

Really topical podcast with excellent team with Katy, Spencer, Kate, Cindi and James. Not my natural listen and I often disagree with them vehemently but their journalism is top notch and designed to provoke through and dialogue and debate (Which it sure does in our house). You need to listen to...Read full review »

Possibly the best politics team in Westminster. Katy, James & Isabel are brilliant - insightful & funny. And even better when they add Stephen Bush from NS. I often disagree but I always learn something. Fraser is just becoming, at best an irritation - more often an annoyance. No analysis...Read full review »

I feel the enthusiasm for bringing fresh perspectives fell on the wayside a while ago with this pod. An update for the talking points of the day (although perhaps more a self-sooth for writers who otherwise should stick to the day job), the presenters though highly esteemed are pretty centre...Read full review »

Bite-sized political update for those of us who want to be up to date but don’t want to spend too much time listening to politicians!

Hi all 1. Have given a 5 star but not on the basis of the pap i have just listened to: how is camerons return going. 2. Having two cameron fanboys/girls on the podcast is not analysis rather a eulogy. 3. Cameron made some stunningly bad foreign policy decisions destroying Libya and bringing...Read full review »

This episode was very supportive of Sunak.

I’m not convinced The Spectator crew are interested in politics as governance over politics as intrigue and gossip. Rather disappointing.
wewonthewar via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/09/24
I am unsubscribing as I used to enjoy listening to a balanced argument but this is becoming more left wing by the day. Must be something to do with the new prospective owners.
One Careful Lady Owner via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/24
As the title says, this is much much better than anything coming out of the BBC. The “episodes” are compact, informative and well balanced. No patronising Beebisms (“let me explain my the NHS is brilliant whatever the data shows” nonsense).

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by coffee house shots as a centre-left liberal, it provides a nice short political dose of the days events with some opinionated but relatively gentle commentary. It does probably help that there is little worth defending with the current Conservative Party so I...Read full review »

Hats off to both of you in having a REAL discussion .. Frazer you are allowing the team around you to challenge - great !!

Kate Andrews views on immigration are a disgrace. The issues in net migration clearly go just beyond economics, but she is incapable of even seeing this, let alone accepting it. Get rid of her!

Fraser Nelson is so wrong about lockdown it’s truly embarrassing
PB1753 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/31/23
At this time instead of party politics nonsense, disappointing journalism. The coffee house should be informing and debating the Middle East. Where are the red lines there and who may cross. Inform first then elicit discussion. Your audience awaits.

The only thing worse than living through the pandemic is listening to these guys trying to dissect the “key” inquiry findings. So amateurish, selective and in hindsight.

Just a small plea; when recording a live show in which you’re asking the audience for a show of hands - it would be helpful to give some clearer indication of the results/change for those listening afterwards… Not that I hold out any great hope enlightenment dawned, despite the excellence of...Read full review »

The spectator tends to lean to the right, but not blatantly so. It’s interesting to get news and views from a different perspective, rather than existing in an echo chamber.
Steveinbristol via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 10/05/23
The Spectator Coffee House podcasts continue to be excellent: insightful discussions always compellingly backed by experience, knowledge, and, where appropriate, data. A further (to my shame!) element of intrigue is what appears to be the occasional staff (?) mutiny rising to the surface in the...Read full review »

Honestly I am happy to hear both left and right wing views if they are well researched, balanced and with no agenda. This podcast fails on all counts. There are much better podcast out there.

How many pods before Kate Andrew’s looks down her nose at everyone again?

Increasing London centric view, Rishi is great but Labour is better! Sometimes it almost as if the Economist has staged a take over! It a shame as this Pod Cast was brilliant throughout the COVID disaster!

Not so much anymore. In fact, not so good generally since James Forsyth went over to the dark side. Nevertheless it’s always entertaining.

I’ve been listening to this for over a year now and am going to have to stop - fairly poor analysis and no signs of improvement. There are better podcasts.

Hello there, Coffee House Shots subject matter and analysis is in my opinion always first rate, however the recording quality is the exact opposite. You really need to fix this.

What is going on with the sound quality of one contributor, James. It sounds like he is in the bottom of a bucket. It’s simply too physically difficult to listen to. I turned the podcast off. Pls sort asap.

I thought Freddie Grey was a parody. Turns out he really is the assistant editor. More Fox News than the Spectator. Shame as it’s usually insightful

A quick review to say that the Hitchens & Snowdon podcast on time was brilliant. Hitchens is always a very difficult person to have on as he does talk over people, but, these two seem to get on well and both have varied and informed opinions. It would be brilliant to add to the Spectator...Read full review »

Fraser Nelson provided a frankly insulting “gloss” on today’s Privileges Committee. Disgusting for a man who is apparently so intelligent.

A great podcast to get quick but insightful views from the heart of English politics and great to hear the recent Coffee House Scots during the SNP leaders election.

To only hear who James is friendly with, and his “snorts” (!) is to compare two brains…….Personally, I valued his clarity, insights and economy of words over many years, and I am writing both to defend him (although I am sure he doesn’t need same) and hope that I can look forward to his return at...Read full review »
