It was great until Gove wormed his way in. Now he ruins it all.

Always an interesting show but McTiernan does nothing but back Labour. It’s pointless having him on unless you want to redwash whatever is being discussed. Budget - all fine. Farmers - all lovely. Free Gear Farmer Harmer Starmer - great man. Honest. Hard working. Diligent. Murdering 4000 OAPs....Read full review »

I had stopped listening to this podcast as it seemed to have veered to the left. I think the inclusion of Michael Gove has served to add balance and rein in the constant criticism of the tories.

You should be conservatives so believe in colour blindness. Instead you peddle identity politics of the Marxian variety endlessly obsessed with the fact she is black and a woman and not one mention of her being a major beneficiary of Cameron’s Diversity programme. Sickening.

What is the point of Kate Andrews inviting on the CHS an ‘old school’ socialist like Paul Mason?? The joker was a huge supporter of Jezza Corbyn for goodness sake and has no concept of what makes a free enterprise economy tick! Stop including these lefty apologists for the joke that is the Labour...Read full review »

I love the quality of the writing in The Spectator but it is noticeable that they avoid the serious issues. Same with the podcast: everyone is pleasant and clearly enjoying their job, and yet no real issues discussed. Was Lockdown a disaster? Should people have been fined for not wearing...Read full review »

Just listened to Fraser’s last contribution to the podcast. Am so so sorry have to let him go. Will be seeking out his articles and more whenever. His team at the Spectator are first rate and I know they will be feeling bereft too. A milestone for me.

Great show but Sarah Elliot is a total waste. What a poor advocate for conservatism. Typical of the talent pool currently in Republican circles.

As one of the (or apparently only, if the other reviews are anything to go by) more centre-left listeners of the pod I never minded it being right leaning as I appreciate exposure to a range of views. But appointing Gove as its captain is unforgivable to me, between education and the leave...Read full review »

Whilst still a ‘good listen’ the Spectator Podcast Team - particularly the ladies and some of the guests - increasingly come across as ‘Insider Apologists’ for Change Labour. The unprecedented, ultra-rapid drop in the PMs approval rating since July 4 tells one all one needs to know as regards the...Read full review »

I’ve listened to CHS for years, I particularly like the information and insight one gets from a wide range of guests and of course regular presenters. However the constant featuring of John McTernan is starting to irritate. He’s rarely challenged and pulls the podcast towards the realms of a...Read full review »

I like the format and presentation of this podcast. It does what it says on the tin. I can’t help being mystified by people leaving poor reviews because they don’t like listening to a labour supporter speaking on the podcast. It can’t be a competent analysis without speaking to all political...Read full review »

…who thinks John McTernan’s contributions are nothing but simpering pro-Labour propaganda. I now delete any episodes he’s on without listening, it’s much better for my blood pressure

Probably the best for UK politics. Helped by a sensible length, reasonably focussed topics and well informed and varied presenters from The Spectator. The absence of political goal scoring makes it a cut above the better known, but frequently irritating, Rest is Politics.

I’ve always enjoyed the podcasts but lately John McTernan has been featured and consequently the usual insightful political commentary has been sadly lacking

I’ve been listening for years, but getting disappointed and frustrated lately. Today’s episode (8th Aug) was not impressive. Thugs are trying to burn down hotels with people inside and you have some peer withering on about free speech (is that our biggest concern as a country right now)? Musk...Read full review »

Listening to the Spectator spout the Labour line over the riots and fail to ask tough questions about what the issues are in these communities just shows how shallow this show is.

… and an excellent magazine! Keep up the good work, guys. My favorite episodes are those with Fraser :). I wish he would show up more often! And I also wish we would hear more from Isabel. Best regards from Germany

Loved CHS podcast but recently they always seem to have John McInterminable on the show who couldn’t be any more of a Labour Party political advert. Every thing he says is taken as gospel and he’s just allowed to say how wonderful Labour are with no come back at all. It’s a real shame as I like...Read full review »

I enjoy the content overall. Never as good as when James Forsyth was involved but still good. I’m learning to contain my irritation at how Kate Andrews always mispronounces the now PM’s name (Keea Staaaama) - her American accent doesn’t explain the odd pronunciation. My big gripe though is the...Read full review »

I usually enjoy the content of the podcast but James Heale’s audio is often poor - speaks very quickly / swallows his words and in the most recent episode (9 July) his audio track kept on going in and out, making it very hard to make out what he was saying 😀. Slow down James, and perhaps get the...Read full review »

The spectator is best summed up by the recent interaction with their editor on the term “supermajority”. We came up with it they say, Fraser has banned it as it’s a stupid term he says, it was used on the front cover Katie says. Yep, feels about right. Could you be clearer on fact vs fiction? You do express moral concerns regularly but seems important to be more systematic in calling out fake news.

I could not believe my ears when Fraser said there was no putsch against Boris Johnson. Good God, the Spectator has disappeared down the Orwellian memory hole. I don’t even like Johnson but I don’t decide not to remember something that actually happened. I’ve also noticed a lot of sucking up to...Read full review »

I am unsubscribing as I used to enjoy listening to a balanced argument but this is becoming more left wing by the day. They can barely contain their support for Labour in the run up to the election.

I always enjoy listening. Maybe I’ve missed the episode where they discuss this… but why is James Forsyth never mentioned? Isn’t he supposed to be advising Sunak? I would love to hear the Spectator’s views on how their former colleague is doing.

Sometimes the mask slips even with more reasonable sounding Conservatives like Fraser Nelson describing the recent racist scandal against Diane Abbott when the Tory donor said she made him want to kill all black people as a “small thing” 18/3/24 for reference. Shocking and shameful.
