Hot Take
Hi guys, Although I do prefer the originals, I don't find the Star Wars prequels to be as god-awful as most fans make them out to be. In the podcast, you reiterate that you prefer that films have something to say, especially in the way of commenting upon current issues and problems. While his execution is quite flawed, I believe that George Lucas was using the Galactic Republic to represent the way America attempts to overshadow the rest of the world. The occupation of different planets by the Jedi knights and the clone armies eventually evolves into the domination of the evil Empire, and I think Lucas is commenting on the atrocities of the American imperialistic machine. Also, the ineffective world-policing and general apathy of the Jedi Knights is what eventually leads to the downfall of Anakin and the evaporation of freedom for the peoples of the galaxy. I wished he would've developed these themes more, as I find them to be fascinating. Interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to put out such a great podcast. Ok I don't know what the numbers are for the Collider Podcast but judging by the number of reviews I think it's fair to say not that many people are listening to it.
