“Generally this is a grate podcast with a great knowledge and passion for the game. An issue however is when despite recognise their biases, there is a failure to critique themselves as much as they are prepared to critique others.
A prime example of this is the criticism of Justin Langer. Sure, like him or hate him as you will, but don't lie about it. Langer did not force Hogg out of the Scorchers. Not only was he a required player for BBL06, Langer offered him more money to stay. Renegades had deeper pockets given they no longer had to pay for Gayle, so he took the extra short term cash.
'Short term' is the critical issue here. Langer is on public record as stating that not only was Hogg required for this season, but the Scorchers wanted to sign nim for another 5-10 years, "in any capacity, even as a coach or in marketing once his playing career is over".
This is a far cry from the quite frankly nonsensical "unceremoniously booted Brad Hogg" statement made by James MacSmith during episode 168.
Langer's actual words: "I wish he hadn't gone. At least I can sleep at night knowing we offered him more money to stay."
At least pretend to be honest.”Read full review »
