By some margin my favorite film podcast. The conversations are engaged and knowledgeable without being overly academic (except when they need to lean that way, as when discussing the Church’s response to early cinema — but even then they have discussions with an actual practicing filmmaker who’s...Read full review »

They defend the confederacy more than they defend even slightly challenging scenes/ directors. One of the hosts always watches these with groups of friends and laughs through the entirety? Very weird for a film podcast. The guests are always excellent, but they often end up in the role of...Read full review »

Man, I’m not the type to lend an ear to ANY podcast or show where people that aren’t my friends and I are discussing art of any kind, but I found this show from an accidental Google search for Andrei Tarkovsky and I'm grateful to God for guiding me towards this show! These two are intelligent...Read full review »

I actually enjoyed your podcast about Little Women! I was wondering if you could have a podcast about “The Trip to Bountiful “, starring Geraldine Page. I don’t know if this movie is on the Vatican film list, but it is a good movie and I think others would benefit from hearing what you think...Read full review »

I listen to many podcasts and the quality of this one is nearly astonishing. You need not be Catholic or particularly interested in film to enjoy these extremely intelligent, multi-faceted examinations. If you are Catholic, you will appreciate that aspect as well, as both hosts are extremely...Read full review »

Their attitude towards the backdrop of Gone With the Wind is completely off putting and horrible. If this is the type of attitude that is being shared, I suggest to look elsewhere.

Criteria is one of several great offerings in Catholic Culture.org’s Podcast department. As someone who is newer to viewing films with an artistic eye, instead of just for entertainment, it is really enjoyable to listen to and learn from the two host’s journey through the Vatican film list. Their...Read full review »

This is one of the most enjoyable podcasts I follow, lively and engaging conversations with insightful guests about what makes these films enduring works of art and how they pertain to the Catholic faitht. If you're new to the pod, the "Man for All Seasons" episodes are a good place...Read full review »

After the Gone with the Wind discussion, I have to unsubscribe. It was really gross to listen to. The sort of apologetic attitude toward the Confederacy by a bunch of white men is one of the most tone deaf conversations I’ve heard in a long time. Comments like, sure slavery was bad, but some...Read full review »

This is such a great idea for a podcast. Listening to the intro episode was so enjoyable! Funny and intellectually stimulating. I can’t wait to watch these movies alongside the hosts. Good project for quarantine!
