The hosts are great
The Slate Culture Gabfest is the program I look forward to the most during my weekly podcast schedule. The mix of high-brow and pop culture is incredible fun. Also, the hosts (Stephen Metcalf, Dana Stevens and Julia Turner) have a great flow and their comfort with one another makes listening quite a pleasure, like listening to friends. Every now and then, the hosts are joined by other Slate contributors whose specialties might apply to the subjects being discussed. Occasionally the podcast is a bit too NYC-centric but it is typically quite accessible, even to a Canadian like me. Cannot recommend highly enough.
