“I often think that I don't care about the issues they're going to talk about in a given week, but almost always once the conversation is over I've discovered that there was plenty of interesting things to be said. That's a pretty good test of a quality show. I love the interplay between the three of them - they are pretty well balanced, and playful.
I think the negative commenters here are taking the show a bit more seriously than the presenters themselves. They seem to be very self-aware of the sort of discussion they're engaged in. The occasional references to 'middle-brow' fare are a dead giveaway there. It's a culture show, after all. It's meant to be light-hearted and fun. They do occasionally take on serious cultural criticism, and usually do a good job. But the general aim is to give people a window into the minds of grad-school-attending, French-film-watching folks, who still recognize that a lot of their cultural consumption is nowhere near that fancy.
I do wish they'd talk a little bit less about terrible pop music, though.”Read full review »

I get the feeling that they want to express the zeitgeist, but they often seem to miss the mark. They would be...”Read full review »
