I ADORE this show. I’ve been listening for 5 years now and figured it’s about time to leave a review. It’s my favorite true crime podcast. I look forward to Monday mornings at work because I get to listen to “my guys” Mike and Matthew. Not only is it well researched, the presentation is always...Read full review »

Engaging and funny hosts that present true crime in a way that truly respects the victims. Well Done!

Just the absolute worst. Boring. Pedantic. Cringe.

I enjoyed the show to start but don’t care for the blabbering on of the new cohost. Half the show is just shout outs to supporters and just got skipped anyway. It also just turned into ghost stories that I don’t care for and once I started skipping entire episodes I stopped listening altogether.

I am so happy to of found such a great pod cast . The content is so interesting and thoughtful of the victims and everyone else even me the listener . Thanks Rich Grant Carbon Dale Alberta (former Burnabyite). Mike and Mat you are doing a great job of telling all the stories , I am not a good...Read full review »

But………Mathew has made me stop listening. His pedantic discussions pointing out obvious knowledge is very tiresome. I wish he would realize the audience isn’t that ignorant…we don’t need so much historical explanation. If there are millennial or gen z people who don’t understand something, they...Read full review »

So sick of all the apologizing for canadians beeing racists in history! Jeez every countrys history is 'racist' if you look enough far back! Get over yourselves already!Read full review »

Apparently 4 stars… cause… Edmonton Oilers. But seriously, it’s nice to hear stories and the accents from the homeland. Grown in Alberta, living in South Dakota since 2010. Some of these news stories didn’t show up in my feeds. Interesting listening to them when all has settled and not in the...Read full review »

What is the purpose of the second narrator? He seems to add nothing, just talks about himself and makes random disruptive and non-contributory comments. Lose the kling-on, and this show would be 4 stars.

As a Canadian living in New York City, I love hearing these stories of home and learning Canadian history from people who have a healthy amount of skepticism around the colonial lens traditionally taught in the school system. Thoughtful, caring and humorous. What else can a true crime loving gal...Read full review »

I love the mix of narrative with just the right amount of commentary. The intro song is THE BEST, I usually rewind and listen a few times lol

Host is awesome but the new guy is annoying and does not add anything to the podcast. In fact, he takes away from it but gotta virtue signal 👌 slows down the show badly

I learnt so much about Vacuums and Canadian true crime

My favourite podcast. Monday mornings are better knowing a new episode is available to listen to. Mike and Matthew are excellent hosts. They respectfully tell the story with care and thoughtfulness. It’s hard to imagine being offended by this podcast, says a lot about those people and not about...Read full review »

I love this true crime podcast. I appreciate the research michael puts into it and I actually super fell in love with Matthew’s calming voice and all the little tiny info bits he adds about art or something super historical…I have been listening for years and I appreciate you both and this...Read full review »

Not only do we hear about Canadian crime, we also hear lessons in Canadian history such as the Halifax explosion, the Burning of Montreal and Canada’s true role in the rescue of the US hostages in Iran. Mike and Mathew bring compassion, kindness, respect and levity so some very dark stories. ...Read full review »

The content can be ok but the times it gets overtly political and preachy take me out of it.

These two are so uneducated in how an investigation works. The Port Moody podcast was awful and the Wakanayashi also terrible. They really are two schmucks trying to talk about true crime. Time listening to these clowns is time you’ll never get back. Awful

Used to love your show u till the past year when you have gone completely woke. I get talking about controversial issues but wow I’m shocked how you can be so negative towards your own demographic. Putting down one demographic to lift another is also discriminatory!!!!

I’ve listened to this show for years and enjoy Mike’s storytelling. They’ve covered an incredible amount of stories from Canada and have covered a few cases from outside the nation. Love how they embrace being Canadian as well as the care given to not glorify the crimes and the perpetrators....Read full review »

After listening to 3 or 4 whole podcast about true crime and dark history about mostly Quebec, it just made sense to start this podcast! I’ve started a month ago from the begining of this podcast and now I’m on episode 89 and I really love it! Great job you guys🫶🏻

Being Canadian I really love that you guys do mostly Canadian stories. Very well put together and I love how your commentary breaks up the stories. I also LOVE how you respect the victims. What’s with the side stories and long rambles by the cohost ….seems jumbled up ! Also in the Ardeth.Woods episode .. The host states that”certain sunglasses make you a racist “ What a dumb comment !! go woke and political and your podcast will wither away .

Some of the stories are interesting but the overuse of puns and alliteration are distracting and often a stretch at even being relevant to the story. Reminds me of the writing on some true crime shows from the 90s. There’s much better true crime out there.

You guys sound really knowledgeable & respectful too. This was a podcast i thought I’d never enjoy, but it just opens more areas around our country. How there’s freaks everywhere!!! This is one of the best podcasts out there.. I’ve been listening to it since the beginning. Love the hosts Mike and Matt! Also if you haven’t bought the book Mike wrote you need too.. it’s great. Can’t wait till he writes another book!!

Oh man I used to love this one, it got me hooked from the first episode. I understand the reasons behind Scott’s departure, so, fine. Loved the first few episodes, but it’s gotten overly political. The show has become more woke virtue signalling, and less true crime.

This was my first taste of true crime podcast way back at the beginning. I was a huge fan. Lately I started getting way too much politically woke opinions and it’s really put a negative cloud over the whole dark poutine experience. The babble at the start trying to make people feel bad about being born White. Kind of figured the hosts would do that by just reading the episode name.

I’ve started from Episode 1! And I’m up to about 50! I listen to this everyday at work. And man alive does it ever make a shift fly! Keep on cooking up that Dark Poutine!

Treating your buddy of the year, month, week, etc. with some respect??? Not like a pet? It’s always about you. Plenty of pods with one narrator.

The banter/discussion between hosts makes me loose interest in the story. And then the comment about windmills being a better option than fossil fuels was the breaking straw for me. I love the content of this podcast for the most part. But the editing is pretty bad. Last night I listened to an episode that had a full 10 seconds of each host’s dialogue laid on top of one another. I couldn’t hear a thing from either.
