I used to absolutely love this show. I looked forward to each episode every week however I dread listening now and only do when I’m out of other shows to listen to. Matthew is horribly painful to listen to. He constantly rambles and rants on and on about topics he has 0 clue about. I wish I knew...Read full review »

I love the variety of podcasts. It’s kept the walk with the dog very interesting! I especially enjoy it when you discuss the topic/show Wales/UK

So I left a review about how bad the narrator style is and then listened to more episodes after my review and I can tell they don’t care about listeners reviews or feedback. Because I can still hear the guy speak in that annoying monotone (like he’s just reading from a script without any...Read full review »

Awful podcast. I return to it from time to time with the hope that it will get better but it’s truly awful and it’s getting worse. The hosts are unlikeable and they are extremely snowflake and PC as if they were speaking to young children. The cohost is really the worst part, adding in little...Read full review »

This is a great show that doesn’t pretend to be something that it isn’t. The narratives are really interesting and provide an historical context for the crimes presented. The host and cohost come across as intelligent and authentic. I don’t know why people here are complaining about the cohost...Read full review »

I listen to a lot of true crime and some leave you feeling a little (lot) icky. Dark Poutine does not. It’s history and humorous and respects the story. Thanks guys!

Not positive, but it sounds like Gloria Zorbino was schizophrenic…. So attributing deceitfulness & normalcy would not be right. She was never diagnosed but displayed early schizophrenic behavior.

I look forward to this show every week! Great storytelling and a wide variety of topics! Great host and co host to listen to. Love the personal facts added throughout the shows, it’s makes me feel like I am listening to friends chat!

I heard your latest request for patreons and how you can’t live on paying for the podcast yourself. Understandable. I still listen every week but I used to be a patreon for quite awhile. There must be a reason(s) why the numbers have gone down. I have my reasons. Once you figure that out and...Read full review »

I love how Mike chooses his cases. It really about the dark side of Canada and not only about murders. And although he tries to keep a somewhat objective point of view, I appreciate how he and his hosts call out perpetrators for what they are. There is also a lot of attention put on the victims...Read full review »

What’s with the side stories and long rambles by the cohost ….seems jumbled up ! Also in the Ardeth.Woods episode .. I am a Canadian, and a true crime fan, and was referred by the Ongoing History of New Music. I tried to make it through the episode, but I have to say this is one of the most boring true crime podcasts that I have ever heard, laden with details, but boring.

Absolutely terrible… stupid disrespectful jokes and one liners..incessant banter totally unrelated to the topic.. it was like listening to two five year olds..

I love the stories but holy moly is the cohost ever annoying. Interrupts the narrative with his pointless two cents. I fast forward every time he talks.

but I will try to be less hateful about it. Mike & the stories are spot on. Matthew, have you listened to yourself? Maybe you don’t have the self awareness, but as I said I agree with others. It’s difficult to listen to, I get embarrassed for you. Humility is an admirable quality. ;-) ps I...Read full review »

I had reviewed this podcast well in the past and been a regular listener almost since the start. I find myself shying away these days and for reasons stated in other reviews. I love how you add your own commentary and phrases when describing certain people, for example “douche bag”, “he’s just a dick”, etc. I laughed out loud today when I heard Matthew say “tits up” as well. Thanks again for an amazing podcast! You guys are great.

Co host butts in with zero informative information, often whispers so quietly it’s become annoying. Sorry Dark Poutine, I used to love this cast…

This isn’t the Mathew show. Please Mike, if you insist on keeping Mathew, keep it to 2 comments, no more than 30 seconds each. With his rambling, he interrupts the good story telling you used to have. We’re already aware that Mathew (thinks he) knows everything, has been everywhere, and has an...Read full review »

Edit 2: I listen to the January 20, 2018 show and it was extremely moving and sadly, relatable. I wish you were here or I was there to give each other a great big hug. Just the absolute worst. Boring. Pedantic. Cringe.
Opera wiz via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 03/05/24
I enjoyed the show to start but don’t care for the blabbering on of the new cohost. Half the show is just shout outs to supporters and just got skipped anyway. It also just turned into ghost stories that I don’t care for and once I started skipping entire episodes I stopped listening altogether.

But………Mathew has made me stop listening. His pedantic discussions pointing out obvious knowledge is very tiresome. What is the purpose of the second narrator? He seems to add nothing, just talks about himself and makes random disruptive and non-contributory comments. Lose the kling-on, and this show would be 4 stars.

These two are so uneducated in how an investigation works. The Port Moody podcast was awful and the Wakanayashi also terrible. They really are two schmucks trying to talk about true crime. Time listening to these clowns is time you’ll never get back. Awful
