I’ve been listening to this on and off over the past year, and found it extremely interesting as a journalism student at the time of writing (April 2024). Local Politics is something I find to always get overshadowed by the larger political conversations - the same way in the UK as the US, I...Read full review »

I’ve been looking for a true crime podcast for a while now about a story that hasn’t been endlessly discussed between two or three hosts that are seemingly reading from a Wikipedia page and Dead End was it. Nancy’s reporting is thorough and thoughtful, the production quality is very good, and...Read full review »

So so interesting. Also, Nancy’s voice is incredibly soothing. Nancy please do more podcasts! Oxo

Thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. I also hope it re-opens questions about the case and provides some solace to the Sheridan family. It’s clear corruption in New Jersey has reached new heights. Thanks to WNYC for opening our eyes and ears to this story.

A deep look into a murderous mystery and New Jersey politics. A detailed and compelling story.

Excellent Podcast. The investigative work that was done on this piece it just the “tip” of the ICEberg!! Thank you so much for this. So many people did not know that NJ is only one of a small number of states where the Attorney General is appointed by the sitting Governor - NOT the people if...Read full review »

So well produced and told. Loved the lack of bias and how stories are woven together. WELL DONE!!!

This really showed the ins and outs of NJ politics and the murders of the Sheridans

Great look at how big monied investors work with politicians and one another to control real estate and community assets.

I work at the former Coopers Ferry. It’s wild to me that I HAD NO IDEA, that all this happened here! Thanks for the information!!!

This is an excellent podcast. Well with the listen. I can’t wait for the next one from Nancy.

Juicy subject matter wasted by a big commercial studio. Repetitive, meaningless silences, terrible microphones, softball interviews… this family deserves better

Packed with information without ever becoming too wonky. A great and relevant listen.

As has ever been true, follow the money which is lining pockets. This is a terrific podcast, but I am SO happy I don’t live in New Jersey.

This is excellent and is done in the same vein as Serial which is the reason I turned into a true crime junkie and I’m pretty sure most of America also headed down the same path. It is done by a professional and has plenty of inside baseball information from family and friends. I’m so over two...Read full review »

I was not familiar with the tragic story of the Sheridans until I listened to the Dead End podcast from NYC Studios. Finally a podcast by a serious journalist who presents this compelling story without adding any personal, ridiculous commentary. Best podcast in the crime category I have listened to…and I’ve listened to a lot!
foxgyrl via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 09/29/22
I found this story to be too padded with lots of extraneous (& boring) info eg Attorney General’s office, Jimmy Hoffer (what relevance, really??!). Would’ve been much better and more interesting to get rid of all the distractive rabbit trails that went no where and just kept to the facts of...Read full review »

What a web! So sad for the family. This program was so well done. Great narration and very impressed by her ability to keep all items clear while telling the listener about all the insanity that is NJ politics.

Very good, recommend to listen to. Great research on important topics, sensitively told with respect to the victims and the family.
annapodana via Apple Podcasts · Germany · 08/25/22
There is much omitted from this “investigation.” Facts about the personal health, dynamics, and relationship of the Sheridans are missing. Exactly why the police labeled this a murder / suicide is not revealed, either by the police or the reporter.

Bravo team! I am sure this series took a lot of work and threads. I feel sad that this is still a dead end and will follow the pod cast site to hopefully see if closure for the Sheridan family is ever rightfully provided. As a New Jersey resident, it was infuriating to hear just how corrupt the “system” is. Thank you for the information you uncovered and shared with the rest of us!

Thank you for uncovering the formerly unchallenged points about this case. This story also reveals the often overlooked differences between states and their political procedures. My heart grieves for this family’s tragedy.

Thank you for conducting such an important investigative piece. You lay out the story fairly, compellingly and chillingly. Kudos to you and all involved.

Because the release of the new episode follows the research, I feel like I’m in the room real time. Although I’m not from New Jersey, the players and perhaps suspects are national figures which has the effect of localizing the story. Finally the author is a great storyteller able to walk that...Read full review »

…that still deserves a solution. Looking forward to updates as the NJ AG & FBI conduct investigations into both the murders and the shameful excuse for an initial investigation. Fingers crossed family and friends find justice and peace.

A tragic story worthy of this tremendous narrative produced by WNYC & Nancy Solomon. After 8 years, the slow wheels of justice now seem to be turning once again to properly investigate the Sheridan’s double murder. Probably more interesting for those from Nj/south jersey than the wider public. Citizens of the state have come to acknowledge and accept corruption in politics — really its an open secret for most of us, and something that rarely gets addressed by formal media. … I’m calling it quits after E6. The story of the crime and the incompetence of the investigation were fascinating. But E5 & E6 we’re a deep dive into NJ political corruption without a clear linkage to the murders. Just boring. I’m out.
DC Grrrl via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 06/30/22
Pretty good show until the last couple episodes when it just seemed to be mulling and milking the “why” question waay too much. Needed an editor to say “ok wrap it up”.
KBPittman via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 06/28/22
This is definitely a true crime whodunnit podcast. But it’s also a really good and thoughtful exploration of a corrupt political system by a very experienced reporter. Hopefully shining a light on this chicanery will help make things better. Thanks for doing this!

Can’t wait to hear the next one. I binge listened to the series this weekend. Okay yeah late to the party but really glad I heard it. So so impressive amount of work , superb investigator. The deaths of the Sheridans provided Solomon with a promising hook to explore corruption in New Jersey, but she does not persuade this listener that the failed investigation in those deaths was politically motivated. The frustrating lack of conclusion to this investigation perfectly illustrates the gridlock of NJ’s political corruption.
