“I was listening to this podcast since the beginning because I loved the previous Purdie. I tried to like the new one but have given up after about one year.
Slate clearly changed their target demographic for the column as it now squarely aimed at millennials and millennial gay/bi/etc. listeners instead of mainstream America. The proportion of non-straight discussions are way out of proportion to the populace.
As a millennial herself,Mallory lacks the life experience to give advice to anyone except other millennials with millennial problems. She is clueless for any real world issues for those over 35.
The hyper-political correctness of one episode in January or February was their "jumping the shark" moment for me. This episode spent the first 25-30 minutes discussing a listener's alleged lack of sensitivity, all the while reading from a thesaurus to ensure only the perfect ultra-PC terms were used. The only exceptions are when she and her guests drop F-bombs and other profanity, which is apparently perfectly acceptable to her. I find this ironic.
If I had my way, the previous Prudie would get her job back. She was experienced and down to earth.”Read full review »

Half the fun is trying to anticipate how...”Read full review »
