“I've been reading Dear Prudence for years. I liked the old Prudie and really, really like the new. Mallory has a refreshing point of view and she isn't afraid to go against conventional norms. That said, I despise the money grubbing of Slate Plus. Dave Ramsey used to have one free hour of his podcast and a paid version of the other two hours. I refused to pay for advice when there are so many intelligent free podcasts available. When Dave made all three hours of his podcast free his numbers went up. Give people something good to listen to and your numbers will also skyrocket Slate, a fact you can trumpet to advertisers. I'm willing to listen to commercials and will even tolerate a banner or two but I will NOT pay for advice. Perhaps it's just me, but I'm willing to bet there are others who agree. Don't cheap out on the wrong thing Slate! Mallory, you're doing the best you can with what you've been given and I hope you can convince Slate to make a change.”Read full review »

“I have long believed that Mallory Ortberg is a genius, with a peerless instinct for scathing satire. Luckily, she is also respectful and empathetic about very difficult situations. While some episodes fall flat from in charismatic guests, and though Mallory & guests tend to assume genders...”Read full review »
