I'm disappointed
I'm a huge fan of both Cheryl Strayed's and Steve Almond's writing (seriously, I've not read anything that I haven't adore) and I really enjoyed Dear Sugar on The Rumpus, but something does not translate with this radio program. It feels like the focus is too much on the hosts instead of on the person asking for advice. And please (please) stop bringing your spouses on the show; I don't feel this adds much to the program and (for me) contributes to the narcissistic bend I feel happening. I do like the other guests, but please, let them speak (I'm referring specifically to the two women comedians who were brought on to talk about a lesbian relationship...they barely had the opportunity to speak or were edited out significantly). I just downloaded the latest episode and honestly, I'm not even that interested in listening. i probably will, but if I don't feel things have shifted it will probably be my last. I miss you (old) Dear Sugar!Read full review »

And his ramblings are uninformed and lame, and actually dangerous. “What if there were a drug that made you your best self?” he muses…. “Would you be obliged to take it?" I was my “best self” when I was high on heroin. I probably...Read full review »
