Good episode but not sure why hope was how you ended ! Truth telling about the racism in Australia & the racist fall out is really required & the heavy lifting needs to be done by us non - indigenous people thank you for the podcast

Mark, please don’t interrupt the train of thought by talking over your guests. Quite good insights but it didn’t quite get there. I want to hear more about impacts and equitable solutions. There was no mention of the tradies as an interested party (along with teachers - how many teachers and...Read full review »

But sometimes, the way Mark cuts in when his guests are answering a question, causing them to forcefully change (or even halt) the course of their point so that he can make a point of his own, is annoying, leaving me to wonder why he bothers to have guests on at all - it seems he wants to just...Read full review »

The best podcasts really do seem to come out of our best Universities. Mark is well spoken and authoritative. But Maria needs to say “like” less!

I listen to this podcast every week and particularly enjoyed the interview with Joseph Stieglitz (although all your guests are intelligent and thoughtful). I particularly enjoyed the way the interview questions allowed Dr Stiglitz to explain how inequality is created and its multiple detrimental...Read full review »

Absolutely love these podcasts, so informative with an excellent line up of guests but please, Mark, stop interrupting and talking over your guests. Let them finish what they are saying. Thank you, sincerely, JulieT

Such great conversations and topics. Kudos to Mark and the ANU for providing this space.

Very informative podcast the covers all aspects of democracy.

That was fascinating interview with Zali. We are getting so little airtime given to the independents. It’s great to hear her describe her pragmatic approach. And I agree so much that our politics have been diminished by the “career” politicians with no lived experience to bring to the job. And...Read full review »

I know this is Mark Kenny’s prodigal podcast child, but seriously Mark. STOP interrupting your wonderful erudite guests so you can deliver a prolonged verbose treatise on how smart and well read you are. Seriously , just give the guests a bit more free reign. Yeah nah. You’re right mate. But...Read full review »

Episodes largely consist of a round table of ‘credentialed’ people agreeing with each other on how they have the same ideas. Lacks depth and intellectual honesty about covering any other sides than what the hosts and guests think is ‘right’ regardless of realities. Give it a crack but be ready...Read full review »

Bias in voice discussion. Not understanding the reasons why the Yes Campaign lost and why the majority voted No.

A regular listen for me - current political topics and interesting guests. I’d love Mark to step back a bit and give Maria a bit more air-time so that we’re hearing the view of a younger, female academic, not just the view of a long-time political journo. Oops, I said it out loud, Mark…

I listen to most of the episodes of Democracy Sausage and find them to be interesting, informative and enjoyable on the whole. The latest episode with Kate Chaney as the guest was no exception. Kate is my representative and I’m a big fan so it was a lovely surprise to hear her on the show. Great...Read full review »

Fascinating discussion with Dr Andrew Leigh MP on factions in the Labor Party and how they work, and those, like himself, not in a faction. ‘Show in tell’ wow. He is a standout speaker, clear, precise and so knowledgeable. Always directly answers the questions. Just brilliant. More please.

Was looking forward to hear George Brandis, as he was one of the more intellectual and thoughtful members of the recent LNP govt imo. However, he came over as bombastic. No room for other’s input while he’s holding forth. From his thoughts on the Ashes stumping, to the campaign for The Voice,...Read full review »

So pleased I stumbled upon this podcast, have been listening for past month, love the deep dives into current issues of our polity that’s also balanced and great banter between the hosts, Mark & Maria and most of all, big tick to Welcome to Country at each of the podcasts, look forward to more!

Answer: Mark Kenny and his academic co-host Maria. This podcast is one step up from an LNP & Labor Facebook meme. The guests are sometimes good, but the simplistic journalist eco-chamber analysis is really, really bad. Lacking in accurate, political historic analysis instead preferring to...Read full review »

Maria Teflaga is great, I love her analysis, she is bright and knows her stuff. When she’s not on I miss her contribution. I listen every week, good work.

Not only like several times in a sentence, but also boringly beginning each sentence with the word ‘so’. So means as a consequence, yet it and the like word too are now empty signifiers.

Mark is great but the female host regularly uses the word 'right?' to the point of distraction. Won't listen if she is on - would be easily 5 stars if it was just Mark and guests.Read full review »

Insightful and enjoyable political analysis and discussion. Mark and Marija bounce off each other really well and dive into all the current political issues of the week. One of my fav Australian podcasts along with G’day Sausages!

Generally it’s lightweight drivel, basically the mewlings of Canberra bubble heads, but all too often it also gives credence and voice to right nasties, Sophia Gaslit most recently. Feeble usually but occasionally vicious.

As In everything Stan Grant covers the same opinions and themes are prominent. The same negative, descriptive language on these themes is used . He has some good ideas to be offered but they are overwhelmed by his negative, unrealistic presentation of them .
