They applaud him for his diversity of thought in communist China but hate him because he also adds to the diversity of thought in America?! Do the hosts of this show not see the irony in hating this guy because he doesn’t think like they do?! That’s WHY HE LEFT CHINA. Because the Chinese...Read full review »

Draws together many voices and perspectives. Ignore the axe grinding one star reviews. People triggered by not having their opinions reflected back at them. Try a little harder . . . You don't owe your minds to anyone.Read full review »

I guess I was hoping for a little more at the end. But it was an interesting story of his journey, and seeming duality of his pursuits.

One of the most educating, fascinating and touching podcasts I have ever listened to. The bad reviews coming in for this amazing podcast are to be expected when the subject is related to not one but really two international mega cults. All I know is that if more podcasts like this existed and...Read full review »

A worthy exploration of a difficult and complex subject. I found Yangyang Cheng’s perspectives insightful and such a helpful and necessary counterpoint in this series.

I love the way they speak about the 45th president. They went easy on him. Rapist dirt bag

I was interested to learn more about Cheng Guangcheng. But this is really just a political piece trying to neutralize his support of MAGA. Not a MAGA fan myself, but I feel this type of “journalism” is why people are becoming more and more disinterested in it.

I thought I was going to hear about someone who stood for his beliefs but couldn’t get past the language spoke about our 45th president. Like him or hate him it was just unnecessary. One star is too much of a rating!

They heard a host say that they were disappointed by for president Trump’s election to power and also at the steady march toward climate change etc in EP1 and people in these reviews have lost their minds. A host of the show also said that people on the left had tied their hopes to the figure...Read full review »

This was great up until episode 7. Then we go off onto a very strange diatribe about one of the podcast narrator/producer’s struggles with the English language and insinuating that it’s somehow racist that people who struggle to speak English are discriminated against in the public arena. I’m...Read full review »

Trash podcast. This persons has an agenda for this legit refuge, and demands he totes their versions of politics. Good story, professionally done, but misses the mar on freedom.

…Is sometimes as interesting as the that of the star of the show. Her thoughtful observations bring depth and profundity to the story. Thank you

Pretty solid but the narrative takes a long time to develop with little payoff so far. Definitely interesting to just follow some simple drama though.

I just finished episode four and am on the edge of my seat about what happens next. While this story is known it’s all new to me — such a fascinating topic. Also makes me reflect on our current political moment. Couldn’t recommend it enough and am looking forward to the next episodes. All the...Read full review »

I’ve finished the first episode and can’t believe the liberal slant! Good grief! I want to hear a little more so I’m going to continue listening but can’t stand libtards!

The hook for this podcast feels a bit underbaked. It’s hardly surprising for a person from another country to have political beliefs that don’t fit neatly into the left-right spectrum of their new home...

The central questions the podcast lays out are fascinating, but I’m also grateful to hear first hand stories of people who lived through the one child policy in China. There is so much to unpack in this story and I’m only on episode two. Great hosts, great writing
