5.005 What Will It Take?
Enjoying these e2k Podcasts! When I heard Paul Schultz say that he “believed everyone is creative, it’s a matter of believing you are,” I thought “I could never do what Paul and Ricky do.” As if reading my mind, the next thing I heard Ricky and Paul say was that a lot of people tell them they aren't creative, and couldn't do what they do. When I took Paul’s suggestion to look for clues as to what “my creative side” may be, I realized that its one I've developed through my profession as an attorney, which is writing and public speaking. I've never looked at drafting oral arguments by way of legal motions/memorandum/briefs, and then presenting them at oral arguments through a hearing or trial was creative. However, when I looked at it through the lens painted by Ricky and Paul in Episode 5.005, I saw that the ability to sway a judge or jury’s pre-disposed beliefs and opinions to your client’s favor, is indeed creative. Also, I could not agree more about writing your ideas down!!! Many times I’ve thought of a better way to present an argument, or analyze a relevant issue, and because I didn’t write it down, I’ve lost these great ideas. Now, when a great idea arises, I dictate it through a hand held recorder or a smart phone. Thank you Paul Schultz for your insight and keep up the great work Ricky!! NBRead full review »
