I've gone through a half dozen copies of the book because I wind up giving it away. It's great book. His other books are good, too. He must have a very good editor! In the podcast, he repeats the very same stories over and over of people not listening to each other or responding angrily, etc., and how that inhibits good communication. Also, when he talks about solving problems, I feel that he suggests that the troubled person become someone else--to paraphrase-- he calls it to lose the ego and be reborn. This is extremely challenging because it asks a person to doubt everything, to ignore their knowledge or wisdom, and to passively go along with everyone's ideas. For someone who may have endured abuse, disrespect, shame, this "tool" that Burns offers would do more harm then good.”Read full review »
