Quite a Variety here!: listen to a few before you decide
This informal conversation podcast between Fabrice Nye, PhD psychologist and David Burns, MD psychiatgist has useful information for the general public as well as professionals. The content varies between overview of concepts or techniques to detailed explanations of his books. TEAM CBT is the most frequent topic followed by communication technieques from "Feeling Good Together". He adds historical perspective from his decades of practice. Occasionally there is a series of episodes devoted to a live session with a patient with discussion of techniques used. Dr Nye's questions are pointed and valuable and not simply a 'set up' for Dr. Burns teachings. They serve as 'devil's advocate' at times in discussion of Dr. Burns claims and methods. At times he addresses questions from listeners. His teachings are practical, research based, and not at all theoretical or lofty. Dr. Burns sometimes takes a good while to tell a story but they are always fascinating. As a podcast that aims to teach I think it could be more succinct with a tighter format. Audio quality is good, nevertheless could benefit from better production equipment.Read full review »
