Reached out to them and the producer completely blanked me. Not had an episode appear since 27th of March when all other podcasts are updating fine. Other people had this issue too

With short memories. It’s as if the G14 never existed.

Max and Barry are brilliant and a great group of guest journalists. Really good analysis and always really funny

It’s still the best football podcast hands-down

Feels like Christmas on the rare occasion we get treated to Jonathan Wilson. I don't bother with Troy Townsend or Jonathan Fadugba episodes now. If someone provides no banter, analysis or insight then how are they qualified to be on the pod? Don't get me started on Mason. Ruined the...Read full review »

In its best moments the show can be great, in its most contrived, self-indulgent and recycled Talksport moments it is utter garbage. Max Rushden changes his mind and opinion based on whatever the last panel member said and has no backbone whatsoever. Increasingly it is becoming an open-air...Read full review »

I especially like the leftie woke stuff, keep it up.

Gradually gone downhill over the last 24 months. Only Wilson, Nicky and Sivetson worth listening to now. I know we should expect it from the Guardian but Max had gone from amusing to boorishly woke and Barry can’t even be bothered to do any research. Troy Townsend brings some sense all too...Read full review »

I would like to listen to a pod without all the noise from all sides about current popular topics such as climate change, Ukraine and Gaza. This pod, it seems, can’t wait to find ways of inserting these wherever it can. This is supposed to be a footie podcast. An escape from the difficulties...Read full review »

Really enjoy the pod, range of strong guests, great to see WSL receiving more attention… but find episodes with JJB in unlistenable, unfortunately. UPDATE- is there any chance of JJB not using ‘league one footballer’ as an insult when you claim to be a pod that also covers the EFL? Cheers.

Very similar to sky or espnfc or any other “cover the entire league” coverage. Very narrative driven. Pretty much take what is trending on twitter or whatever sky talk about and welp so will these guys. Use to have more varied analysis but now it seems pretty mainstream

The Drunken Sot whined on 4 March after Manchester Divided were again humiliated by Man City. Reminded listeners how The Drunken Sot soiled his integrity when Lady Alice covered his pub tab. *** “I had no inkling it was coming,” Andy Hunter at 2:01 29 January on the start of Klopp’s Retirement...Read full review »

After the last pod, can we get T-shirts or mugs with “Why are you being such a d!ck?” on them? Thanks. Keep up the great work.

Oh great a new pod I thought !, no it’s a women’s football pod ,if I wanted to listen to women’s football pod I’d put one on !!!! It’s ok for that bloke to dislike Aston Villa and their fans buts it sexist to dislike women’s football ?!?

It seems like at least 2 of the pundits on every episode are connected via tinny, barely-audible phone lines (maybe teams or skype). Is it only barry and max that are given microphones to record their audio?

My absolute favourite football podcast (for years and years now), and delighted to have a fellow Irish man Barry on the pod who drops in the odd hurling reference.

Recent critical reviews are very harsh. This is a great crew of intelligent reporters and Max is a great “conductor”! That said for clearly intelligent correspondents can Max and Barry calibrate footballing talent ? There are not that many “brilliant” footballers in existence. Messi, Ronaldo,...Read full review »

It used to be good. Now it’s only good when another host takes over, they even joked about it last time! with Robyn Cowen. She was great, as is Faye and the others. Barry never seems interested which for some reason seems to be a running joke, why bother with him?
Easy8sherman via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/05/24
It didn’t take long for one of the guests to have a go at Nunez did it? Then it was Jota’s turn, dear me…
WillyWonks66 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 01/03/24
Started out decent, now mostly just about ref protection, pompous and making fun of foreign managers.

Worst football pod out there. Lasted 10 minutes and moved on. Listening to snobby uneducated bellends who’ve never kicked a ball on their life is not for me.

Listener since 2008, Was a Ripping show but if I wanted to listen to uninformed critical analysis and gutter humour I can hang at a dingy pub. His boring analysis was saved by the 30 second fast forward button being handy, but Liews got to go now before I listen again, and the Guardian donations...Read full review »

I like Lars the best. The show has been good this season. When the show attempts to talk about social issues, it would be good to get a wider range of opinion. Or just stick to football related matters.

The host is great! Good move getting rid of those two whiners, haha

Mostly good listen, but so many cynical views. Is it possible for Brits to be positive? This coming from a yobbo Aussie with a sunny disposition.

No podcast is better than this one, when it comes to general, entertaining and informative footy-talk….brilliant hosted by Mr. Rushden ! Keep on truckin’👍

A once great pod that has rapidly deteriorated. Some of the guests like Jonathan Wilson are unlistenable because they are so self indulgent. Really a shame how far this has fallen.
APri39 via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/26/23
Love the pod. Paid for the livestream. Also brilliant. Two points- 1/ Barry paying for sox. Great story 2/ every ad break popped up in the middle of a Barry comment. Who did He upset?!😂

Just listened to the episode where they endorsed Everton’s 10-point deduction. So sad and shameful. They’ll crusade when it suits them. Open your eyes to what the premier league has become and what it stands for.

There is just something soothing to listen to the contrasting personalities of Max and Barry. They are the Odd Couple of football podcasts and their enduring relationship (or lack thereof) during troubled times is something to make you smile when everything around is such a stench.
Chuckolla via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/15/23
Every week, just a series of great, measured approaches to football. Max is always so funny, and the rotating cast of writers offers the level of deep analysis and nuance that football deserves.
DoctorVongole via Apple Podcasts · Canada · 11/09/23
The perfect podcast for the football enjoying Guardian reader. Arrogant, disingenuously socially conscious, and no where near as insightful as it thinks it is.
RMcCol via Apple Podcasts · Great Britain · 11/07/23
That’s the British phrase right? If you want fairly uninformed opinions that often miss the point then the is is the pod for you!
WorldWideWinder via Apple Podcasts · United States of America · 11/06/23
I only listen when Barry is on but enough with the left wing moral compasses when criticizing Jordan Henderson. Go after him for his poor form, not his views. Barry's humor, gruff and honesty is the only reason i still subscribe.Read full review »

It’s a diverse cast of football pundits analyzing the football universe of the UK and Europe with an occasional glance overseas. The personalities are excellent. Max, Barry, and the rest of the group give football fans something to look forward to a few times each week. Thanks for the coverage!
