Continuing to be curious
On an episode of the pod last fall, Jonathan asked a guest a question that I think I find most interesting on his pod: “In ten years, what will you be most proud of?” The guest mentioned his first marathon, something already in the rearview, but it led to a discussion about asking this question to professionals or Olympians and their answer often being along the lines of "finding out what I can do/be." Jonathan added that they're "curious" - curious about pushing themselves and testing their limits. As someone that talks for a living, I often find myself at a loss for words discussing what running means to me and why I do it. Why run a sub-3 and BQ and head right back out for another long run the following Saturday? Why keep pushing myself, when I could dial things back and remain healthy, without all the time on my feet? Because I'm curious. Curious about how fast I can be. Curious about where this road will take me. He absolutely nailed it. This podcast often hits on the emotional side of running, and that’s why I’m drawn to new episodes and continue to catch up on ones I missed.Read full review »
