I’m sure there’s a good story here but the writer and narrators inability to identify it and deliver it are a real let down. Where other podcasts use twists and cliffhangers to engage the audience, this podcast makes every event that ever happened to the subject out to be a monumental, horrific...Read full review »

The content is great but the sound mixing is terrible. Super tinny, random music that is louder than it needs to be, horrible background sound effects that are totally unnecessary and interviews that are such poor quality, they should not be used. Sound makes me want to not listen.

Have just binged on this podcast. Amazing that he lived amongst us so easily for so long! Horrifying actually. So much work has gone into this! Thank you Mathew!

It’s very close to my heart given that I grew up in Brisbane & used to hang around Billy Phillip’s tattoo shop in my younger days. I actually met Vince a few times & didn’t like or trust him straight away. Then I was told that he was a rapist & a few other things. I didn’t want to...Read full review »

Matthew Condon is always great. His investigative journalism is conducted really well, with good writing and a flowing story. This is definitely worth a listen.

I listened to a tonne of podcasts and every so often one comes a long which is extremely captivating. This podcast certainly is one. I loved the layout, delivery, narrating and so on. Highly recommend if you’re into true crime and especially Australian true crime.

A high quality production with even higher quality content. Shocking, genuinely will never forget this story. I am glad I have listened to this but it was uncomfortable at time yes. There is plenty of warning. I respect true stories and had to keep listening to find out what happened. I have...Read full review »

Unreal story! Bingeworthy!!
maxrat90 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 03/23/22
Binge-worthy podcast. Captivating, and also enraging about the widespread corruption and lack of justice for victims. However, I found the discussion of domestic violence a bit victim blamey. There was a whole discussion about ‘why didn’t she leave’. Cringe. Fear of death or harm to loved ones?...Read full review »

Extremely engaging podcast with excellent production. Matthew has a great voice and augmented with a professional production makes this one of the very best podcasts I’ve heard.

A brilliant podcast told by a brilliant writer and champion for the forgotten. I doubt this murder would have been solved or the Whiskey re opened if it wasn’t for this podcast. Compelling listen that will have your hair standing up on the back of your neck. So many lives lost because of some...Read full review »

Riveting, as a Brisbane local, I found this story very interesting. I feel for all the families this terrible human hurt, and am horrified that he was allowed to go free for so many years. May all his victims Rest in Peace.

I am glued to this podcast. It is very well made and so easy to listen to, even if the subject matter is uncomfortable.

Stumbled on to this podcast and so glad I did. Lots of research went into this. Shame it took so long to solve. Vicki was a friend from school, always remembered.

Such an incredible volume of work and research crafted into such an engaging podcast. Terrifying story, as a “local” it particularly resonated however I have listened to similar podcasts from BBC and this is far superior. Truly world class.

As someone who has worked in Forensics this podcast described the psychopathy of Vince O Dempsey very accurately. A harrowing insight into the world of a modern day boogeyman.

Absolutely riveting story . I’ve been walking around a beachside town in LA with the hairs standing on the back of my neck .

I’ll never know whether this is a good story or not as I couldn’t make it past 10 minutes due to the narrator. Also, who pronounces it “bogey-man”?

Great podcast especially as it happened close to home. The host is easy to listen too. Timeline easy to follow. All in all just fantastic

Really want to rate it 5. Great info and coverage. Even intriguing vocals. But as all the dots between the letters in “Riveting” in the title of my review suggests, the pace is almost painfully slow, making it easy to drift off and have to rewind a few times to get missed important info. It’s...Read full review »

This is one of the best podcast’s I have ever listened to. Crazy to think majority of Australia doesn’t even know who Vince O’Dempsey is! Really well researched, Matthew Condon you champion!

Such a wonderful listen! The retelling of a life every Australian should know about, definitely 5 stars.

Overall I thought the podcast was well researched, presented and written. I was however disappointed in Episode 8 to hear the question “why did she stay” of Vince’s partner who had clearly faced unimaginable abuse and torture at his hands. I’m glad Matthew Condon sleeps well at night knowing he only cares about his own personal gain. Instead of asking people to call crime stoppers with information, he instead asks they email him directly- what a disgrace!!

Well written and researched. Doesn’t drag and gets to the point without being overly repetitive.

The audio quality for the interviews is very poor - very difficult to follow and the static makes it almost unbearable to listen to.
laala5 via Apple Podcasts · New Zealand · 01/14/21
Overly dramatic and exaggerated. This ended up sounding like a story by A Current Affair. Thanks for moving to Byron Matt, just what we need.

Great job Matt. Well researched. I’ve enjoyed hearing about this case I’ve never heard of. Baffling really, being an Australian. Thank you.

Vince O’Dempsey is one hell of a sicko!!! The world is a much better place with him behind bars, that’s for sure.
Mezzles21 via Apple Podcasts · Australia · 01/10/21
Poor host, really poor audio sometimes which would have been better listening to the host actually saying something that resembles fact rather going on about click bait stuff like his personal graveyard and the 100 plus possible victim’s.

Enjoying this podcast immensely! It’s evocative, beautifully written and presented, thrilling, terrifying, and emotional all at once. Matthew’s style is engaging and tenacious. Awesome work! Thank you ☺️

A gripping story! Audio is terrible in some spots and we couldn’t hear some interviews. A tad over dramatised in some parts.

I’ve enjoyed this podcast - interesting and well researched. I haven’t had trouble hearing / understanding the interviews with the volume turned up. Some of the language and music make the solid reporting and story come across as a bit sensationalist - but that might just be my taste. Thanks for...Read full review »

I kept waiting for a revelation that never came. Other than the crimes the subject has already been convicted of, the author big on hype ( claiming over 100 murders ) and low on evidence. Ultimately unsatisfying.
