After reading (and loving) The Lost Pianos of Siberia, I was delighted to learn Sophy Roberts started a podcast. It’s fantastic, with a mix of smart, curious, and well-traveled guests that make you want to hit the road yesterday. My only complaint is that it’s not longer :)

Having listened to 5 episodes so far, I cannot wait for more. The self awareness and sensitivity that Sophy demonstrates as an observer/interlocutor/traveller/writer really shines through with her choice of guests, the interwoven subject matter, the diversity of ideas and the engagement with the...Read full review »

I’m enjoying this new podcast — the host hits all the right notes, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and is a good interviewer/conversationalist. I’m impressed already with the range of guests.

I have high respect for the author Sophy Roberts, her knowledge, experience and vision. I love the concept of the podcast - the intro of which I don’t want to ever skip (kudos to the Mongolian music and the photo illustration of the podcast). I’m glad I’ve learned about the authors interviewed so...Read full review »

In an age of colorful, flashy instagram posts of the familiar places, opening up one of these podcast episodes feels like receiving an amuse bouche at a fine dining establishment. Elegance, taste, exploration - a sense of true adventure and humanity. It’s such a treat to listen to each one; I can...Read full review »

This is great stuff - makes you want to become a nomad (for half a year anyway) and ride across the steppes from Hungary to China. Sophy Roberts is a brilliantly sympathetic and intelligent interlocutor, and Anthony Sattin’s descriptions of nomadism are full of quirky interest and charm. Can’t...Read full review »

Sophy Roberts is a rare beast, of which the world needs more of. Everything she does writing or interviewing is a poetic intellectual philosophical a surgical deep dive, straight into the heart of her subject(s). A master storyteller, brutally honest, frighteningly clever and equally fun and...Read full review »

Sophy Roberts - who is both a geographic and philosophical explorer - in convo with the best of our generation. Imagine if you’d been able to listen to Freya Stark, Paddy L-F, Bruce Chatwin etc discuss why they travelled and wrote - this is the 21st C equivalent.

I love the conversation around open borders contributing to a flourishing of ideas. So relevant, both historically and today. If only world leaders would take notice.
