Solid start to a new movie podcast

“I know I'm getting old because the movie reviewers I grew up reading and listening to --- Siskel & Ebert, Andrew Sarris (New York Observer), Richard Corliss (Time magazine), and Stanley Kaufmann (The New Republic) --- are all passing away. My old guide for deciding which movie to see (Did it get at least one thumb up? Okay, I'll go see it) are obsolete. As I search for new voices to guide my moviegoing choices, I found Mr. Leitch, who filled Kaufmann's place at The New Republic. I like his writing and enjoy hearing his viewpoint even if I strongly disagree with it (I liked American Beauty). Now he and Mr. Grierson have started a new movie podcast and I think it's a solid start. They argue well together and make their positions clear. I look forward to further episodes.
I would be curious as to what Grierson & Leitch thought of Field of Dreams (1989), especially since Leitch started a sports blog.”Read full review »
